Does anyone have problems with Nutra-Cal It seems ever since I started to give it to him, he has a little wheeze. Do you think it could be the vitamin, or should I start looking elsewhere. Woops! I also started him on new food. It's Natural-Choice, lamb & rice. I switched, as someone gave me some input on not giving him anything with corn products in it. Now I'm really stumped. Help!!!! |
Has your little guy recently has his bordatella immunization, or has he been around any other dogs (even a trip to the vet) where he could have gotten kennel cough? It could also just be a little upper respiratory infection, it could be an allergic reaction to the new food (they sometimes will react to rice and other grains as well), or it could be the Nutrical. It's really a guessing game. For his wheezing, try running your shower with really hot water, bathroom fan off (if you have one), door shut and sit in the room with him. The steam will help him breathe better in the meantime. If he keeps wheezing, I'd have the vet at least rule out kennel cough or an URI and then you'll at least know it is highly possible it is the nutrical or his food. Good luck and keep us posted. |
Never heard of a dog having a reaction to nutri-cal before. I know if I give them to much, it does cause loose stools. As far as the food, could be an allergie to something in it. Weezing, I'd call the vet if it doesn't clear up. |
That just sounds like it could be coincidental. Are you giving it to him because he's not eating? Maybe the same reason he's not eating (if that's the reason you're giving it) is the same reason he's getting a wheeze with the nutri-cal. I can't imagine it has anything that would make them wheeze, though I think it can cause gas or something. Nutri-cal must not agree with my Chloe somehow, because although she used to eagerly lick it off my finger, now when I offer it to her, she cowers away from it. She even runs if she sees me getting it out of the cabinet. So I wonder if it gives her a stomach ache. |
I only give my little boy a few licks off my finger when he has not been eating well...when he does not eat well it usually ends up with him throwing up yellow bile. He does go into the "reverse sneezing" once in a while when he gets over excited and this seems to be the time he will not eat well and will require the nutra cal which always seems to help him...I have never noticed any negative reaction to it!! |
Thanks for all your help. I did do the steam thing, and it seemed to help, although I came out looking like a California Raisin. |
My Brownie is Very allergic to it he cant breath |
i have only been using it since wednesday but he has had no problems at all. |
