AHA !!! BUSTED lol....CUTE pictures - does it get THAT cold there ? How long do your winters last ? Was it as sub-zero as it looked ? lol...LOVE the matching outfits - that's soooo cute - I want a snowsuit ! |
I just read through this entire thread, I guess I missed it before! I think the key for me came when Kewtee said that her English was a bit rusty. When you say that something "looks funny" people automatically construe that as being that it "looks strange". But I think what she meant, gathering from the content of her posts, was that it "looks cute" or "looks amusing", as in it puts a smile on her face. Reading further down, I see that Kewtee is a doggie dresser too! I decorate everything I love that will allow me to decorate it. I paint the walls in my craft room, I glue rhinestones onto my cell phone, and I dress up my dogs. I think it would be strange if I DIDN'T dress them, LOL! For all the joy and happiness my dogs bring to me, what I do for them is just a drop in the bucket of repayment. Some clothes are a necessity, like coats and sweaters in the winter. I figure hey, why be plain, let's get CUTE coats and sweaters! And I don't like wearing the same old thing every day, why should they? I paint their toenails pink, because pink is my favorite color, and it's fun to see them painted. They have cute little sterling silver necklaces, because they're just pretty, and I like pretty things. I don't have human children. These dogs are my kids, and I can guarantee you that if I had human children, I'd dress them in the cutest clothes, and do their nails, and buy them jewelry too! :D |
It is very rare to get as cold as you see in the picture - normally in Denmark it just rains and rains and rains and rains in winter. Sometimes we are lucky to get snow that melts after a day or 2 and once in a couple of years we get a real....blizzard might be too strong a word...but we are advised to stay indoors and schools are cancelled. Once in a decade we get huge amounts of snow and everything stops - shops, schools, factories, trains etc. It is always a chaos and if you're not going anywhere it is really cosy and fun! I remember one winter when I was child where we saw army tanks driving across the ice to a small island with food. And a winter in the nineties we had so much snow at the same time that all cars were gone and people were skiing to get around. Last winter we had a week in Skagen where the snow stopped whatever little traffic was on the roads (Skagen is a huge tourist attraction in summer, almost dead in winter - 12.000 inhabitants) and the heat went out - thank god for burning stoves :) My very good friend in Texas calls me when it snows there - it is quite funny - getting a few flakes is a sensation for him: "Mette, Mette, it's SNOWING - WOOOHOOO!" I think the Boston area resembles Denmark some regarding the weather, but really I know so little about the weather in the states. I visited my friend when there was a huge flood - was it in 2001 (?) - and that was amazing to be part of :) His wife and me were at a danceplace in Houston and we had to sleep in the car since the water was so high we couldn't drive the car home... Sorry the topic is off and I am rambling! |

Has anybody on here ever ordered from www.chiwawagaga.com? I saw some cute cable knit sweaters on there in plain colors...but they didn't have many color options. I sent a email question about the colors...but the person who wrote back didn't seem really all that excited to help me. Does anybody know if their stuff is good quality or not? |

i wanted to say this as someone who loves her little boy to death - i could not imagine going all out and putting him in jeans and shoes as i have seen on some sites! you can't begin to make me think a dog really needs all that. a tshirt i can understand. i see the little girls in easter dresses and i think that is cute if done for special events but people with closets full of clothes that think the dog can not leave the house without an outfit on is just hard for me to believe. but it is not for me to decide and if it makes the parent's happy - which of course is why it is done - then far be it from me to complain. we all do what we think is best for our dogs. |
I know there was a time I thought it was funny to dress dogs though it must be years and years ago, and probably in my child hood. However, these little yorkies are just the cutest in their little shirts and dresses that it is hard to resist not dressing them. They also seem to like it, my Dennis sees a shirt and he goes nuts till you put it on. My little Sahara looks so adorable in her red and white checked shirt and denim pants with suspenders that it never fails to keep a smile on my face as she romps around the house. It is just too cute! So I think they look adorable, and these little one's like and perhaps need a little extra warmth as well; and because I can and I love doing it! I don't particularly care what other people think, never did, as life is best lived pleasing one's self in areas such as these. Hope this helps!:) |
we all know y people are sooo mean about us dressing our dogs.. they're just jealous. duh lol |
in my opinion, even ifs its not snowing or raining. its OK to dress your dog as long as he or she IS COMFORTABLE & Happy :) |
Max won't wear clothes - He only wears 2 jackets. I bought him the warmest parka, and he froze - wouldn't even walk. He was so pathetic looking with his little head down standing frozen in place, I took it right off. I got rid of that, a Harley Davidson sweater, a denim jacket, and some other cutie things. I'm looking for a Yankees jacket now, but they're about $40 and if he doesn't wear it, I'm not wasting that much money! I just don't think that anyone should judge whether or not you dress your dog, cat, monkey, whatever. Judy |
My big male loves to wear shirts. He just thinks he's a people when he does. LOL I don't think any of my dogs mind wearing clothes, altho at some points they act like the clothes are in their way. Sylvia |

Certain clothing items dog's actually do need such as harnesses, rain coats if they dont like pottying out in the rain, coats & sweater for warmth, and shoes for hot pavement, snow, etc. I have a dog rescue that I donate clothing to becasue they have dogs with skin diseases which cause them to be bald so they need clothes year round. BUt yes you are right, dogs do not necassarily need cute shoes to match all thier outfits or jeans and tank top, just like I dont NEED a $500 coach purse, and I dont need an Ipod, or 5 carat ring, etc but I sure do want them :p . Its the same concept, we do it for enjoyment, for memories(the pictures I get of chloe dresses up are true treasures), and for show and I'll tell you this- my yorkie LOVES the attention she gets and she comes alive with personality when she has clothes on. So I know she is enjoying it too. In the winter I put a few jackets on my Boxer and she also got such a kick out of it, she would walk around smiling and prancing with such confidence and she got extra attention from other people because who could ignore such a cute confident diva? lol. So I think dressing dogs can not only be functional, but even the non functional type of clothing can be a real confidence & personality booster, it all depends on the dog though. My chi is not a big fan of clothes so I dont make her wear them very often, only if its cold or for quick pictures or harnesses for walk and going to the park. Another thing I like about dressing chloe (my yorkie) is when we go to the dog park and she is running around sometimes if it were not for her bright colored clothes, I would loose her with all the other dogs and bushes, etc. SO I can always spot my dog because she is the one wearing clothes :) It comes in handy more than you think ;) |
Dressing up My mom dresses me up because I am small and can get cold:animal-pa . I know she is having fun with dressing me but I don't mind because when it snows here in Maine I love to play out side she keeps me covered. also shen I am in my Pram for walkies she outs a tee-shirt on me because of the sun. I think she dresses me because she loves me:ghug: Mim's |
Of all the questions Of all the questions you could ask on this site, you picked, "Why do we dress our dogs." I think that's the dumbest question I've ever heard. That's like me asking you if you shave under your arms. It really doesn't matter to anyone if we dress our dogs or shave our pits now does it? There is so many more important things in the world to ask. I will give you an answer, as for myself, I dress my dogs in the winter because they get cold when they go for walks. There you have it. |
I just love dressing my babies. And no one can tell me that what I do is wrong. If you don't like it, then don't do it to your own dogs. Very simple. |
I saw a tiny yesterday in her little sweater and her hair bow. You could just tell that she thought she was the cutest thing ever born. She was so pleased with her little self. She was 6 months old and just precious. She probably picks out her own outfits every morning. Judy |
