i have never known anyone to wait for a puppy to be 12 weeks before they brought it home - i guess that it depends on the area you are in. everyone i know with a yorkie has brought it home at 6 weeks. my neighbor recently bought one and that was the age she got hers,too.

i finally settled on a name - Romeo. :D

Congrats oon the new puppy. I agree 12 weeks is the ideal time. I did however get my first one at 6 weeks and he did just fine. I dont have any behavoral problems with him either

Romeo is a good name. I can't wait to see pictures of him. You are right about the age thing. here in kentucky, the paper is full every weekend of six weeks old yorkies "Ready to go". Congratulations on your new baby.

To load photos, you'll need a program that does re-sizing of digital or scanned photos. If you re-size photos to 800 x (whatever is automatic) that will ususually work here.

Just in case your vet didn't mention how to use the Nutrical - you use a finger-tip amount and either rub it on his gums or tongue if he won't just lick it off your finger. It is used when your baby isn't eating well and with a new pup is a good idea just before going to sleep at night.

Hello, I am new to the site also. My little buddy is 3 now but we got him when he was 6 weeks old and he is awesome. We didn't have any problems at all training him. He slept with me from the first night (I know that is against the rules) and still does. His name is Murfee Alexander. I hope you like your little baby as much as we do!

Welcome Patty I hope you enjoy urself here, loads of info on everything about yorkies.
Its also common practice here to a sell puppies at six weeks old. But i personally think they should be sold at an older age.:)

I got all three of my yorkies at 6 weeks. They all did great & have no behavior problems. In fact they are the sweetest, most adorable babies ever.:D

only you ladies here would understand just how in love i am with romeo already!! i feel so blessed to have found him. as far as the Nutrical it is in a tube but it seems to be a liquid. i was given a bag of plastic syringes - no needles of course - to use. i fill it with a little at a time and just slowly squeeze it into his mouth - very easy. he doesn't have a problem with it. thanks for the tip about giving him some at night. all though i must brag a bit - last night was his first night here and he did not cry or whine once!!:D he played with his little toy and went back to sleep.
