Does your puppy get bursts of energy? My Simon is 11 weeks old, and he acts like a normal puppy all day... He plays a while, eats, naps, then the cycle repeats. But then at night around 8:30/9:00 o'clock it's like he's on speed or something. He runs around, chases things, is more wild than seems normal. It's not even after a meal sometimes it's been a couple hours since he's eaten something to cause him to burn energy. Does anyone else experience this... a particular time where your pup acts like he's possessed? |
mines is not like that my yorkie mix is very very lazy and all she does is sleep and eat thats all. |
Oh! Heck Yes! Usually about 30 minutes after eating they go NUTS just racing through the house and slamming into the furniture! Jumping on each other or at me! I love it! Even if it gets a little scary sometimes. If they go too bonkers I try to calm them down a little (if I can)! |
LOL!! It is funny, I'm glad to hear it's a normal thing. I do enjoy the show |
Yep! I don't notice it being at a particular time. He just goes crazy though, running around the house real fast. It's funny! |
Puppies and little kids do the same thing. It's like they have to burn off all of the energy that's left in their little bodies before they can go to sleep for the night. It's really a hoot when I've got a litter of puppies and the grandkids spend the night. |
Sky just had her "episode." My son and I just sit back and watch in amazement at just how fast her little legs go. And the panting that goes along with it is a scream. I call it our mini-Daytona. |
LOL! I love when mine do that and run like mad all over! We say "they're doin' hot laps again!" Cause they will just chase each other (and sometimes do it alone!) through the house and around the furniture and roll on the floor and then do it again! It is so darned cute! Truffles, the puppy, makes the cutest sound the whole time "rrrrreh, rrrrrreh" Cracks me up!! No particular time, but always after a bath! |
Oh gosh yes! They have spurts all day randomly... I'll be doing some homework and they'll be passed out here bedside me and the next thing I know they're chasing each other and having fun... But about 7:30 or 8:00 they know it's walk time, and boy do they get WILD! Then we come home they pass out, and then when it's bedtime at 10 or so they're wild again... It's cute though. |
Funny about the timing...mine does it around between 8:30 and 9:30, every night! I call it the "zoomies"! It's so funny when she runs with her ears held closely to her head...it's like it makes her more streamlined and aerodynamic! |
Keely does that too. Especially at night around 930-10 she runs around the living room super fast then rolls all over the floor and like army crawls. It's hilarious. We just sit and laugh at her and then she's ready for bed after and sleeps until 7am. |

Rocky does it to. Remus would do it 99% of the time. Rocky is 11 weeks. He usually is particulary happy in the morning and in the evening. |

It's not exclusive to puppies! Ozzie has ALWAYS done this. We call it "wildman mode" and know to steer clear and try to keep things out of his way so he doesn't get hurt. (Like shoes or the groceries I just brought in.) He runs with a toy usually and sometimes will take short breaks during which he shakes like crazy then tosses and often catches the toy. Then running resumes. At some point, he will usually bring the toy to us, signaling the end of the mode and that he now wants us to get involved. On occasion, if he looks completely out of breath, I'll slow him and then make him stop. Now that he's getting older, I pay lots more attention to that heavy-breathing! |
