Is THREE a lot harder than Two???? Hi all, this is for anyone who has more than 2 Yorkies.....Is three really that much harder or differant than two? Im getting the fever for a new furkid....:p |
No, the 3rd one is not hard at all. I have 6 Yorkies. I am at my limit. |
i really see no difference in 2 to 3 besides i still havent mastered carrying all 3 but mine are larger and theres more toys and clothes to buy and added vet bills i think money wise is the only major difference |
I think it is a lot harder, but I love it. I'll go for another next year, got the fever. |
From 2 to 3 wasn't so hard for me but from 4 to five has been an adjustment...for sure!!! |
I think two is perfect! Easier to travel with, go places with, fit in the stroller best, best "buds" and all. When it comes to the bath and grooming day, I'm glad I have only two. I get the bug once in awhile to add to my family, but I have to keep in mind all the rest that comes with it. Some folks here who have several, are probably planning on breeding them and I'm totally against that kind of breeding unless your showing them. |
I have three and have no problem except when someone comes to the door. Bark Bark Bark, if ya know what I mean. I would love to have more.....:p |
I have 3! And want more!!!!!!!!!! Its not much more work once you get into the swing of things! But, more vet bills, more grooming bills! It was tough teaching them to walk togather, but they do really well now! I say go for it!!!!! |
No it's not hard at al , i got 5 . Yorkie's are like potatochips you can't have just one . LOL. They just bark a little more if you know what i mean . |
alright, you guys, I need your help. I have two-and thy still dont like each other very mch. I have a two yr old yorkie -who acts more like she is 11 or 12-old haggy-kind of attitude (doesnt want to play much with the puppy) and I got her a friend, for xmas. Our new puppy is 5 mo's old now, we got her at 8 weeks... it has been hectic at the least... The new puppy was pretty mean to the older dog and rought and just tackling her, peeing on her head (didnt know females did this) and popping and peeing on all the toys.... I have been since been able to curb some of this behavior, but a lot of it comes from my older dog just not wanting to have anything to do with the new one :( it breaks my heart b/c I wonder if thy will ever love ea. other. my daugther sees the puppy antagonizing the older one and she really has been starting to not like the puppy so much anymore.... anywyas, I've asked this before but here i am 3 months later asking again.... how long did it take you guys for your dogs to love ea. other and not just be "at it" all the time. I have been separating them a LOT which is hard... i want them to spend time w/me, which means I am dividing my time and usually put the older dog w/my daughter when I'm spending time w/the puppy.... I just hoped by now, they would be getting a long better. The scabs on my older dog's head are finallly starting to go away (she dosnt fend for herself when the puppy is rough-housing her either) :( oh well, I thoght you guys might have some tips or ideas or maybe would be able to tell me how long your two's or three's took to realy bond w/one-another :( :)----i am all about 3 ---but............... |
I am always wanting a third dog but I realize that two are perfect for me and a handful when going for a walk. I don't think I could handle a third one on a walk. That is the only thing keeping me from getting a third. |
Boy.. what great timing.. I just bought my third one. He isn't here yet but I was wondering how much will my life change. I was thinking that if I had to travel on a plane, I can only take 2, I think they only allow 2 on any given flight.. Its funny, I am just as excited about my third as I was for my first or my second.. I guess its like real Kids.. ;) |
I have four and want four more. |
Ihave two and fully plan on having 3 eventually. I know the vet and the grooming bills would be higher. I dont think it would be any harder having 3 though. I do have mine trained well though and that is a consideration when getting the 3rd |
When I had my third child I felt it got more difficult because I only had two hands. But after the third one it didn't seem to matter, things were already out of control. I have 6 kids. LOL I just went from 2 yorkies to 4. It is twice the work. But I wouldn't say it is that hard. Twice the feeding dishes, twice the poop to clean up etc. When the puppies are grown, it shouldn't be so much work. I took all 4 of them to my daughters on Tuesday, and other than having 2 crates instead of one, it wasn't that hard. When I took them out, I carried the puppies, but the 2 older ones followed. I do get to feeling like a mother hen at times, when they all follow me around. But I love the feeling. Go for it ane enjoy. |
hehe I hope you can handle 3 yorkies! I have 1 yorkie and 5 large mix dogs lol and 2 ferrets, 2 snakes, fish, 6 horses, 2 cats.. hehe I even walk 3 of my big dogs and harley at one time! You can do it! I would definately vote to add another yorkie to your mix! |

When sitting in a big chair, but one on one side and one on the other. that way you don't have to divide your time. I think the older one is just sad. I think that when the pup gets to be a year old he/'she will calm down a bit and it will get better. meanwhile just give the older one lots and lots of love. I think it worked out better getting two new ones at the same time, because the puppies play with each other and leave the older 2 alone. |
:sidesplt: I'm sorry, but when I read a thread like this, I just smile! When you get the "fever" and ask .... next thing is the announcement "Surprise .... here's my new baby"!! :p Go ahead ... the more the merrier!! :) Wish I had the nerve .... when I get the fever, I visit my friend who has five at her house!! They are such a spoiled, happy little pack! We just throw Toto into the pack and they all play 'til their little legs can't run anymore! If I could, I would have a dozen! ;) Good luck with your decision, I know it will be a good one! ;) |

You might want to spend more time with your older dog and put them both on each of your side just as JeanieK said but your older dog still deserves that little more time to let the younger one know the older dog is still important to you. Sounds like the puppy is trying to gain leadership on the older dog and trying to be dominant and your older one is submissive. You got to gain control as both their leader and put the younger one back to its place. |
Hi, I had a yorkie and a pekingese and then added another yorkie and it made no difference. I'm ready for number 4 :p |
I have 2 yorkies and 1 shih tzu. I don't see that it is any harder. May be more expensive. I see another one in my future. Maybe another girl this fall. |
