Anyone use a coupler on their leash? Do you like it or not? Does it hinder the dogs from going in their own direction? Do your babies like it or not? |
I am planning on getting one. Its gotta be better than two leashes |
Thanks for posting that question. :) I'll be interested in reading everyones responses also. |

I just bought one but my new baby boy won't walk at all outside - aaagghhh! His sister dragged him for a bit and then looked at me like 'unhook this weight'! I did use it on their carseat harness and it worked perfectly. We'll work on the walking together this Spring:) |
I use one and it's great! The boys do very well with it. They get a rhythm going so they aren't jerking each other around. Once they get used to it, they realize they have to wait if the other one is sniffing something. Overall, it's much better than trying to keep 2 leashes straight. Thumbs up!!!! |

So it's interesting sometimes.... Thanks for the info! |
Hey everyone, I bet Cindy (chattiesmom) might be able to make couplers to match her harnesses. |
Where do you get small couplers? Our local pet stores only carry the heavy ones for the large breeds. I've never ordered any pet items on line so I don't know of any good websites. |
I am going to see if Cindy will make me one |

I bought one at Petsmart. It hangs with all the little collars. I really had to look for it. Then I made myself two of them and gave one away to a friend. My dogs walk well with it. |
I couldn't find them at Petco until I mentioned it to the manager and they had them in the 'small dog' section. |
My dogs didn't do well with it at all. Prince outweighs Angel by about two pounds. He is my social dog - thinks everyone was put on this earth to pet him. Well, he loves people but he's not real fond of other dogs. Angel is much more reserved than Prince (at least out in publice). She tends to walk behind me and has a really bad habit of just stopping and laying down especially if something scares her. I've always thought that was strange - shouldn't she try to run away if she's scared? Anyhow, we spent the entire walk with Prince trying to go one way and poor Angel getting jerked around behind him. I'll try again once the weather gets better. I would love to be able to use it, especially when we go to places like PetsMart. |
I have one.. sometimes one will get pulled more than the other.. but it's great because once the walk gets going they fall right into it staying side by side and not running all over. So it's about 10 minutes of jerking and pulling, but then the rest of the walk is awesome! |
I use a two coupler and it seems to stop them from pulling so much on the leash. It is hard to find one that is not too heavy. I got it at Petco but I think it is still a little heavy. I also got one at Petedge and that one is way too big. I am going to try and make my own three coupler to walk all three together. Will post a picture when I get done. |
I got mine from Cindy (Chattiesmom) and everything matches-they look great. They love it and so do I. They walk well together and have their own system. He always walks on the outside and she always walks on the inside. They are so funny to watch. When things get mixed up, you can see them working to get back to "their" position. |
Jen & Jolie does quite well with a coupler I'm hoping it's temporary! there is only like a 18" space between the two and if one goes one way the other one get's yanked untill she follows. I have a great leash if your kids are trained to not walk around behind you and get you tangled up in the leash. I love this leash but can't use it until Jen and Jolie learns the "Art of Walking". Wanna see it? - I got it from JB Pet and it's called a pet walker plus. Theres two leashes that clips onto the "handle" with swivel hooks so they don't get tangled. I like this one also, I have it and my girls have a little freedom to go in their own direction. Desi weighs more than Millie and she always ends up dragging Millie, with this lease it doesn't happen. |
Anyone use a coupler I had one and used it for a while. I didn't like it because my female pulls on the harness and jerks my male around. My male walks nicely on the harness, and my female goes banannas. So, I walk them on separate leashes. It's kind of a pain, but my male appreciates it. |
Coupler Jack and Jilly walk great on the double coupler. They are both close in weight and so small that I don't have a problem. Their separation is about 14". It is 3/8" wide, nice and thin. Now that we added Kenzi, Chattiesmom made me a triple coupler. The weather has been nasty cold so I haven't had a chance to use it yet. So the jury is still out on a triple walk. |

She made one for me that match my girls harnesses and it is perfect. I highly recommend her :D |
I just bought one of these to walk Lex and Lulu and it is hard to use. They both tend to want to walk in a different area from each other. Then at times when Lex starts pulling he drags Lulu around. Maybe when she is fully grown and can do some pulling of her own it will be ok...:D |
I just go mine this morning at Wal-Mart... used it... and I LOVE it!! No more pulling!!!!!! |
