Possible Puppy Mill? Just got Bandits Pedigree the other day, I was looking over it and I thought the dates were the dogs date of birth and I almost had a heart attack. It says 05/06 next to the Dam. Then I read the back and saw that its the date of the first breeding. Well..turns out that would make 2 litters in such a short time. Not sure if the date 05/06 is the bred date or whelped date. Either Way.. it would be at most 6 months from Bandits Whelp date...Im not liking this.. At least I rescued Bandit from them but I will not step foot near that Pet Store again.. Goes to show you cant trust anyone. I Sat there for 2 hours discussing things with the Owner and the supposed VET that worked there and how they are against puppy mills... I JUST WANNA SCREAM! Ok.. Sorry I had to get that off my Chest.. |
i don't understand you bought a pup from a petstore? well most pups at petstores are from puppymills most people don't even know about puppymills until someone tells them. see stoppuppymills.com |
You can go here and get a free puppy report on where your pup came from. Its only for dogs bought from a pet store http://www.petshoppuppies.com/ |
PET STORE, is your first clue of a puppy mill. |
I have a page on my new site dedicated to this problem http://www.designsbyvillette.com/VIP_Links.html and I'm sorry you were lied to. It sounds like it's pretty common practice for Pet Stores to lie to their customers and the best thing you can do at this point is just help spread the word about WHERE puppies in pet stores come from - there may be some that DO buy from breeders out there but most Pet Stores all over the country DO buy from Mills (especially disgusting Petland) ......I hope your puppy is healthy....that's what counts !! |
Well if you got him from a petstore, most likely he is from a puppymill or a broker who got the puppy from a puppymill. There are very few petstores that sell puppies that don't come from puppymills. And the many pet stores that do sell puppies that came from puppymills certaintly aren't going to admit to having puppies from puppymills. As for his mother being bred, don't jump to conclusions too soon. Some breeders like to breed two heat cycles in a row and then have the dam rest for two heat cycles while others breed one heat cycle and off the next. |
I got the same thing when I bought Bentley my yorkie poo. He didn't come registered because he's a mix obviously. But they gave me the breeders info and told me I could get pictures of the parents and all their info from her. When I checked online.. SURPRISE it is a well known puppy mill in one of the puppy mill states. Last time I ever buy from a pet store :( |
I don't trust any petstores that sell dogs......so sorry you were lied to. |
