San Antonio Yorkie Theft San Antonio had a Yorkie theft just yesterday, apparently these 2 girls stole one from a petstore called "Petland". The puppy cost $2000.00 (Wow!!!). Luckily the puppy has been recovered ok today. Very scary..... Heres a link: http://www.woai.com/news/local/story...a-12f12a419beb |
Wow...after the news coverage with the Home Invasion I have a bad feeling that this will start happening alot more - especially after they stated that other breeder had 10 THOUSAND dollars worth of puppies in her home....that's almost educating all the wannabe crooks that may NOT have thought to steal dogs that there's money in yorkie puppies now.:( as much as I despise Petland - I'm glad the puppy was found ....did they catch the girls who stole him/her ?? |
This kind of stuff really P***es me off. Think about it, don't worry about your big screen TV being stolen, or your stereo system, but lock your family pet up! Next petstores will have to make a cage that LOCKS, so when the family is out and about, doggy will be home safe. That's sad that it has to come to this!   |
What a cute baby. I though Petland only did rescues? Not little ones. |
I'm actually a little paranoid now, that someone might have seen us walking our furbaby in the neighborhood and gets the idea to steal her. We've had a prowler before, last year before we got our little girl. |

I think what we all need to do is this: WARNING! To all theives, take the T.V., take the stereo, take anything you want... Just dont take the Yorkie or Yorkies! PLEASE!!!!!! |
So sad...there are always copycats when things like this happen. I am sure this will not be the last of dognapping. I hate that dogs are sold in petstores anyway...they are usually from puppy mills so i won't support them. I wonder if we can list our babies on our home insurance policy against theft?? They are definitely more valuable that any thing else in the house!:aimeeyork |
Stolen Yorkie Actually, the poor thing might have been better off not being found. I have heard horror stories about Petland. |
Proves just how stupid these theives really are. They would never get all that much from the sale of a Yorkie that wasn't registered. I hate that this is happening more often with our favorite breed, but I have to think that it's only to sell, so maybe anyone who "buys" a dog for a lot of money will make good parents. We just have to be a lot more careful with our babies. Always block the doggie door when we leave and lock all doors, don't walk our babies by alone, don't leave them in the car even for 5 minutes to "run" into a store, and so on. Just treat them like you would a real baby and they will stay safe. |
I worry about GiGi being stolen ALL.THE.TIME. That's why she goes every possible place with me. My first yorkie was stolen out of my home while I was at work. They broke in and took her, her toys, her food and food bowls, her crate..... everything. They left the money, the jewelry, the electronics, etc. They wanted her, and they took her. I'm so careful with GiGi..... she is never unsupervised. I get ridiculed for my overprotectiveness, but it took me a long time to get over that.... and I still feel guilty for leaving her in harms way.... I don't know that I'll ever get over it completely. |
At least they are getting caught. It would have sent a worse message if they got away with it. |
