WELL... She did it again.... We came home again to once again ANOTHER hole in the carpet.... She dug up... Just days after fixing the first hole... Why all the sudden this digging like crazy?? Is this just a six month old girl thing?? Cause Bentley never did anything like this and still doesn't... WHOSH! Makes me want to just cry.....:( |
Put her in an x-pen and put a plastic tarp or plastic tray underneath. |

Tiny particles of food drop on the carpet w/there keen sence of smell they believe there is food under there, if they could only get to it. You can get your carpet professionally cleaned. I fostered a beagle that did that & we had to replace the carpet. I think it it was deep cleaned & no food gets on it they wouldnt do it. You know how they bring their food on the carpet, the little crumbs sink down in. Maybe vaccuming everyday.... |

It is just when we leave them in the bedroom when we're gone for 3 hours on Monday and Wednesdays... So they'll just loose the bedroom now and go back to the bathroom. .... |
You are either going to have to crate train her or use the x-pen. By herself she will continue to rip up the carpet unless you are there to tell her this is not acceptable behavior or confine her when you are gone. If you would like to try the crate again I can PM you some instructions to get her out of her separation anxiety and use to the crate (it can be done). Good luck with whatever you decide! |

It is recommended that you not close the door on them. They need to be able to see out or they become VERY anxious, which is most likely why she is digging. Try TWO baby gates, one on top of the other....there's no way she could jump that. It would probably help the digging situation tremendously if she was able to see out. |
I'd try her in an x-pen. Because my room is brand new hardwood floor I just measured and cut linoleum (sp) that was extra from our kitchen floor and fitted it to his x-pen. So if he had any accidents as a pup there was never an issue with the floor. Plus, it doesn't hold bacteria and can be bleached and rinsed with no issues too. If you do this though, make sure that you give an extra 2 inches or so on all sides of the x-pen so she won't be able to chew the edges :) |
Didn't I read somewhere that you can get a top for an x-pen? I think they make them for outdoor use and when you're at shows or something but as long as it's safe there should be no reason you couldn't use it indoors too. |

pen Buy a 2x3..raised grate, and lid..but buy a good one with side lid clamps or she will push the top open at the side...a heavy guage metal is needed for that type of escape artist..had a few myself... |

Oh yea, have you tried spraying the bitter apple spray on the carpet to see if it will deter her? Some of my dogs HATE it and leave things alone once it's been sprayed on but Forest seems to like it.. So, you don't know till you try it! :) |
