Yorkie names

Yes, already named her through AKC. I switched back to Maggie, I couldn't stop calling her it and she already responds well. She is occasionally "do-do head" and little names like that. But I'll stick with Maggie. I think our next pair of yorkies will be named "Pebbles" & "Bam-Bam". But that will be a while....:aimeeyork :aimeeyork

Well, I picked up my yorkie when she was a little over 2 years old....she came from a divorced family and had been moved to the 'bulldog pen' outside!! I fell in love with her even though she had been shaved extremely short, stunk to high-heavens, and carried her head tilted to the right side! After I bathed and pampered her, I looked at her and thought.....'she looks like a flower with that small and crooked head and those big ears'.....That's how I came up with Lily!!! Her previous owners had called her Little Bit...which I could not stand..just didn't fit her to me, and I think that the names sounding somewhat similiar, it didn't confuse her. Lily will be 4 in Nov. and she is perfect to us! We also have a little boy named Sabastian....it just fit him perfect!! We got Sabastian when he was 8 weeks old and he will be 2 years old in Dec. Before we got our yorkies, I didn't realize how much these animals become literally part of the family....not just dogs or animals....we consider our family!!!

Winston's Mom 10-11-2006 10:34 AM

I've always wanted a Yorkie. So finally after 10 years of begging, my husband said okay. I wanted a big name for a little dog and an English name because the breed comes from Yorkshire. So I came up with Winston (named after Winston Churchill).

My husband who didn't want a dog, never had a dog, wants his own dog. He wanted a daddy's girl..... so we named her after Margaret Thatcher thus "Maggie" came about.

Naming Our Yorkie

:)

After much thought SAMSON is now TEDDY it suits him far better, I thing Yorkies are difficult to name, as they are BIG dogs in little bodies.

I wish you all the best of luck naming your Yorkie's it isn't an easy task with so many lovely names to choose.

Welcome and congratulations on your new babies! I love the name Tinker! Living on the Gulf coast, Katrina might be a little hard to hear though. Would love to see pictures of those babies! Hope you enjoy it here as much as I have.

We have always had a hard time naming our pets. As soon as my husband came in the door holding my new baby, Moose just came to mind!! We live in Maine, love moose, and I thought a "big" name for a little boy was cute!!:animal36

i bought a male puppy from a breeder in everett, my first "bought" dog...he was promised to be a teacup since i was shown his tiny parents(back when i trusted mass breeders) anyways, he was more like a BEER STEIN than a teacup!!! weighed 10 pounds when he was done growing! i called him moose until i saw a rodeo bucking bull named beaudacious. so that name stuck and we called him beaudacious bleu...or bo for short.

Yorkie Names

Lola... is the name of our little girl. When we were looking for a yorkie, we were not sure if we wanted a boy or girl so we picked a name for each (Lola and Rico from the Barry Manilow song) Also, once we picked the name it just fit her... whatever Lola wants... Lola gets!!! Her registered name is Hurricane Lola Grace. She was sick as a puppy (giardia, and something else that starts with a "C", she went hypoglycemia because of the illness and the fact that she was not eating and intestional upset - after 5 days in the hospital at 12 weeks old she then had a terrible bout with Kennel Cough that lasted several months). We would always give updates on her wellness through hurricane terms. She then got her middle name "Grace" because one day I told my husband that it's by the grace of "god" this little girl is still with us and he said, "god"? and corrected me... and he jokingly said it's by the grace of our pocketbooks because others may not have had the money to care for her in the manner she needed.

Pippa was named after my childhood sindy doll horse!

I named my baby Bentley....bc i always wanted a real Bentley and the way my furbaby broke me, i thought i really got a vehicle lol. And plus...one day i want to get a baby girl and name her Mercedes!
*Bentley and Mercedes* :)

AprilLove 01-14-2007 01:20 PM

As soon as I held my AprilLove I new her name. She adopted me in March, but she had a smell that reminded me of that fresh air in April. And Love was because of 2 reasons, 1. my mother named her girls with 2 part names and no middle names, and 2. April came with a whole lot of love to give :-)

TootiesMom 01-14-2007 05:58 PM

my "Tootie" started out as "Bear"... his registered name is Hartley's Teddy Bear... after a few days, I just took to Tootie! He was and still is a Cutie PaTOOTIE... He does know his name is BEAR, but only when he gets in trouble... hehe
My Hopey was named when I found her and I never even thought of changing her name... her registered name is Reggie's Hopeful Demitasse of La.

Mommy of Brandi 01-14-2007 07:23 PM

This has been one of the best threads I've read here so far......and it shows how much effort we really put into our babies.......It took me from May 29th.......to June 6th until I finally named her......(I was just looking at the myspace comments from EVERYONE until I named her LOL).........my first choice of a name for her was April......she was born April 12th the day before my birthday.......no one could agree upon a name........if my daughter liked a name my son hated it.....and visa versa.....so I sent her picture with a list of names to EVERYONE I know........and asked for their votes......her brother from this liter is KobeBeans.......her sister from the first liter is Skittles and then there is Peanut and Marbles......I considered so many names......FIRST I wanted Truffles.......my kids said no.......then I wanted Snickers......FINALLY I decided on Brandi.......and not everyone agreed and then I said ummmm it's my dog I'll name her what I want......now my son is bugging me for a bulldog.....I'd love a little playmate for Brandi but I'm afraid a bulldog could accidently hurt her........
