when we picked rosie up we had 3 different names none were rosie, but none seemed to fit then my mum said what about rose and i said ROSIE and thats how we got her name. over here theres a childrens programme called rosie and jim so if i get another yorkie it will have to be called jim, which was also my lovely dads name. wendy and rosie :rose: :yorkiesar |
I had Lexi for 2 days before I named her. I knew she was going to be my littlest Princess, so I needed something that sounded OK with princess. I also was told not long before getting Lexi that I could no longer have children, so I now needed a name that would sound good with Princess, and it had to be a people name. I love the name Alexis and even more so the Lexi. Her name is Princess Alexis Lynn Martin aka Lexi. I also have a name picked out for my next baby girl (but I can't tell it's going to be a surprize) ;) |
Precious I wanted a yorkie all my life. Never had dogs when I was young and at home. No such thing allowed in our home. I finally got my first yorkie when I was 52 :thumbdown for Mother's Day. I named her Precious because SHE WAS! 4 1/2 years ago I rescued Wendy! OMG that just did not fit our Sassi girl. She can play ball back and forth with anyone and she was a toot so we changed her name to Sassi! Now I have Sunshine! All our baby yorkies will carry Precious name is honor of her. On papers he is Strong's Precious Sunshine! Sunshine because I know Precious is at Rainbow Bridge with the sun shining on her! This weekend we will pick up our new baby girl, Rainbow! I am sure no explanation is needed for her name. By the way, they will also be called Raini and Sunni! |
I named my Golden Retriever Montana, I read it in a book where a character had a golden named Montana and I loved it. When I got my Jack Russell I had just been to Kansas to visit a relative and I loved it there, so I named her Kansas. When we got our shepherd he was supposed to be Wyoming, but hubby hated that and since it was technically his dog, I gave in. We couldn't agree on a name for him so we just left his registered litter name, Hunter. Now my Yorkie came along this past April and he was small but feisty, kind of reminded me of a macho man so I thought Indiana fit, after Indiana Jones and still keeping with my states names. Hubby didn't want another dog so I told him he could call him Indy 500 after the car races he loves so much, but he informed me the puppy was too small to be a 500 racer, said he looked more like a short track racer. He calls Indy, Short Track. |
You are all going to laugh at me! When I adopted Simon he had a different name that I didn't care for because it didn't seem to suit him. So after a few days I began to see his little attitude and decided to name him after Simon Cowell, the trash talking guy from American Idol! I'm not an AI fan per say but I like how Simon tells it like it is and oh how appropriate it has become (hehe)! Hallie is the name she had when I adopted her. I thought of changing it to Sadie (Simon and Sadie has a nice ring) but ultimately kept it. I call her Halle Berry ;) sometimes because I think she is that pretty! |
Rowdy is my husband's dog, I got Rowdy for him because my husband has a very serious chronic illness and is home alone most all day (while I'm at work) and cannot do much of anything except sit and read or watch TV. My hubby was very lonely; thus, we got Rowdy. We had him several days and tried out several names such as Skeeter and Chigger (I disliked both very much). We thought about Toto and several others but they just didn't seem quite right. After we'd had him for five days, my husband had to spend a couple of days in the hospital. One afternoon, a nurse told him he needed to walk all the way down the hall and back. He had all manner of tubes and machines that had to be rolled by the nurse in front of him as he walked. When she got everything all ready to go, he was standing behind her and she turned to him and said, "Allrighty, let's go Rowdy". He and I looked at each other and laughed. We both said, almost simultaneously, "Rowdy!" that's his name! And it stuck. We both love it and he is a rowdy boy - but he's also a sweetie peetie!!! :) |
My little guy was without a name for 3 days...My hubby and I couldn't agree on anything! After spening some time with his, I noticed he loved to chew on my shoes. I had been considering Ewok or Chewbacca but Matt hated the first and though Chewbacca was to long. He didn't want Puppy confused with all those syllables. He said, "Let's call him Chuy." and the name stuck. It suits him to a T. Tonya...yes, I AM Chuy's mommy! |
I'm not that interesting lol. I chose Sadie way before I even got her beause I just always liked the name and thought it was very girly and cute, and it means princess, which Sadie likes to think she is lol but it fits her prefectly. It was between that and Sophie, which is kinda weird because Sadie's sister ended up being named Sophie. |
My newest little girl comes from my own yorkie litter that I am keeping. Well she is such a fat... cutie that when I talked to her I referred to her as "my little cow" My youngest daughter was visiting with her family and heard my talking to this puppy and started to laugh at me and told me you can't call a puppy a cow, she would have to be a calf. So to make a long story short she has been dubbed "Magnolia's Miss Calfilena". My husband named the last yorkie I purchased in June. When she came home to live with us she adored my husband and would get in his recliner when he came home. They would play for awhile then she was off to her favorite spot on his shoulder. So she was named Polly. (referrence to a parrott) But Polly turned to "Magnolia's Miss Pretty Polyana as she is to pretty to be just a "Polly". I like different spellings of name as you can see. But that is the story behind two of my babies names. |
I came up with "Pippin's" name because (a) I'm a LOTR's fan and (b) he reminds me of the character; he's tiny, his ears stick up and he gets into mischief  |
Well our first dog's name was Tabasco, he was a silk terrier we got from the humane society. Not sure why we named him that...maybe cuz my husband is mexican, lol. And Skittles......no clue, I had a list of names and asked my 4yr old to pick a name from a list I had wrote up. I'm sure our next addition will have some sort of candy name! lol DaniBelle |
When we were getting our yorkie, it was supposed to be for my daughter. It ended up that she is really mine because I take care of her the most. But one day before we got her, my daughter said that she had been thinking of names for our puppy. I asked her what names she had been thinking of. She said "Sadie". I just looked at her and my mouth dropped because that is the exact name I had thought of. So we decided that that must be the perfect name. We had been to obedience classes with our other dog a few years back (yellow lab) and one of the dog's names there was Sadie. I think we both remembered that and liked it. Our yellow lab is Madison because that is the name of the city that we got her. |

Trixie was pre-named, as we got her about a month or so ago from a puppymill (she was used for a breeder) and we decided to just keep it -- as she had alot of changes and we didn't wanna change that on her at the same time too. But we added the little Belle part, where she's sometimes called Trixie~Belle! |
