My yorkie was microchipped by the breeder, how do I know if it under my name now? Where do I call.

Lexi just got a micro chip last Wed. and here is the # they gave me to call if I had any ?'s.

1-800-336-2843 (hope this helps)

Do the breeder gave you the number of the microchip ? If yes , he or she is supposed to give you a 1 - 800 number of the microchip's center .

There is a form that you complete and send to the proper agency to get the chip registered in your name. Foreign microchips are not scanned in the US.
People think they have an AKC registered dog when actually it is an application for the AKC Companion Recovery Program..

The breeder should have absolutely supplied you with all the info concerning the chip. You have to have the chip registered in your name but need to know the vet she used and other info. Try to contact your breeder again and get the paperwork you need.

Syd got microchipped last week at the same time she got spayed. Just out of curiosity...does anybody know where in the body they put the chip?

Its put around the shoulder blade area, I believe between them, or just above them. Its also my understanding that it goes into muscle so its not an easy chore to get out, not that you would want to. We just had a discussion about microchipping humans in my computer science ethics class and that came up, that it goes into the muscles and you pretty much have to ruin your muscle to get it out, or at least someone who isn't a doctor would ruin it.

Honey has a microchip and I can feel it sometimes when I am petting her. It is kinda wierd, like a little grain of rice stuck up between her shoulder blades.

All of my Biewers are chipped between their left ear and shoulder. Scanners in this country will not locate them..
