HUGE NEWS! New drug for car sickness... I'm not one to put any unnecessary meds in my babies system, but then again she doesn't get car sick. She loves being in the car. What do you think, how do you feel about this new drug that has been approved to prevent vomitting in dogs? http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,255498,00.html |
I'm surprised no one is interested in this, considering we get like a ton of posts of peoples dogs being car sick  |
hmmm i am going to tell my friend, she has a Bischon that gets carsick everytime they put her in the car, thanks ! |
Nobie, I'm very interested in learning more about it. I am not one for drugs either. Tia and Cali do great in the car. But poor Codie sometimes gets car sick if they windows are not down. I don't know how I'd feel about giving him drugs but it's something to look into. Thanks for posting it babe!! :p |
Wonderful, Sissy gets sick in the car all the time. 10 miles is about the range before she gets sick. And I mean SICK, last week we went to the park for a walk and then to Petsmart. By the time we got there she had puked (cottage cheese):0. It worked out well though. People kept asking to pet her but I just said; "I don't think you really want to, she just vomited all over herself in the car". So nobody touched her:D |
hmm i dont know about that.. but i know that i had to take those car sickness pills when i was younger and they worked for me, so those would prob work good too! |
I'm VERY interested too and plan to talk to my vet about it. Sadie also gets sick every single time she rides in the car!! - UGH!! |
I think Pixie gets carsick as she did on the way home and the only other time she has been in the car was to take her to the vet when she was already throwing up and yestrday to Petsmart and I think she threw up a tiny bit. So I will look into it. Thanks |
So, the pill form is for motion sickness and the injectable is for other forms of vomiting...is that correct? I'll ask the vet about it for my boyz although I think Riley is growing out of it. Funny you should bring this up today...I had a dream about Jo last night that we took him to Petsmart and he didn't get sick and I was so happy for him! My poor Jo-Jo gets sick if he even gets close to the car! |
I just read this thread and I am THRILLED! Rebel loves to ride, but Lucy gets really sick. I've been giving her the herbal drops and they help some, but if the cerenia works I'd definitely give it a try. I'm going to ask my vet about it. I'd love to be able to take Lucy to Petsmart, etc, but she gets so sick she doesn't enjoy the trip at all. Thanks for the info:) |
I am very interested in this. Hannah gets car sick in my new pathfinder, but she never did before in my accord... |
Thanks Nobella, Keelie and Joey both get carsick, I will be checking this out. |
I'm gonna have to ask the vet too...Brandi get sick in the car unless it's an extremely short trip...I feel so bad for her cause she likes to be in the car...and I love road trips... |
I used to give my Cocker Spaniel something very similar any time we had to take her in the car because she had SEVERE anxiety and would literally almost stop breathing when we put her in the car (her Trachea would close) because she was so nervous. My vet recommended that we give them to her any time we had to take her in the car, so we did and they worked WONDERS! She would just lay there (alot of times she would sleep) and not say a thing. It just made her very groggy and "unaware" that she was actually in the car. I hated to give here these, and we only did it when we absolutely HAD to take her in the car with us (which wasn't very often at all) - but they really came in handy for emergencies such as the time we had to evacuate due to a Hurricane that was headed our way. We had to leave town and drive 6 hours away and we took all of our pets - so giving her one of those pills then was an absolute MUST because if not, we would have lost her on the way there. There is no way on earth she would have been able to be in the car for 6 hours, she would have ended up dying because she got herself so worked up and nervous. Her Trachea would have closed and she would have started running a very high fever as she always did and we would have lost her. So those pills really worked WONDERS for us. We just gave them to her about 15-20 minutes or so before we had to leave and all was well :) |
wow there's more people than I thought that have pups with car sickness. Glad I posted this :p |
I'm also very interested. Thanks for the info. My Trixie gets severely sick anytime she rides in a car. I feel so bad for her and want something that will help her. I'm going to talk to my vet. |
