Adjusting to another puppy Sophie is 5 months old and on Saturday we got a lab mix puppy that will be an inside/outside dog. The lab puppy is 9 weeks old and weighs 9 lbs. The puppies hit it off well and like to play, but after a few minutes Sophie starts biting at the lab. They seem like they are still playing, but that bothers me sometimes. For those of you that have had yorkies for years, is that normal behavior because of their size? |
My lex is 9 1/2 lbs and my new pup lulu is 2 lbs. The nipping is them playing. If you see serious fights then that is something else. Little dogs tend to forget that they are little and want to assert their dominance over a bigger dog (remember they think they are great dane size) and also he is showing the newbie who is boss. My dad's shih tzu oreo who is 11 lbs rules the roost there over the other dogs that are 100, 85 and 125 lbs respectively. Hey remember Sophie is also a baby still so that nipping is still part of her play routine. |
