For those of you with TWO yorkies:
 

Emma and little Milli seem to be getting along well for the most part, but they play SO rough with each other. My little 3 lb. girl is a little spit-fire! She thinks she's as big or bigger than Emma already, and definitely holds her own!The growling, barking, biting, body-slamming, running into each other and furniture, and the list goes on...but they seem to be having fun. Is this normal? Emma is 11 months and Milli is going on 14 weeks!

Also-WHY is it that they have an entire basket of toys, but want the exact same one all the time? We have two identical Nylabones, but they will only fight over one at the same time, while the other bone is on the floor by them, they won't touch it!

And-WHY do they get so jealous of each other, and pretend they don't like each other, and then I catch them snuggling?

Normal behaviour I think. Mine do the same thing. I gave them both a piece of bread last night and Lulu walked away from hers to take nibbles from Lex's that he had in his mouth. They also rough house and I swear I have a heard of elephants around.

Same in our house! They especially like to body slam into the vertical blinds and play hide and seek through them...

Totally, 100% NORMAL!

Every once in a while, they might get too rough but as soon as one gives a yelp, the other stops and give her a kiss.

Hmmm.... maybe they were watching the agility dogs on Animal Planet and they think the blinds are the weave poles?:eek:

LOL. Mine play in and around the sheers in the livingroom...they are playing doggie peek-a-boo.

thats my two... I have to constantly fuss at them for being too rough... Tootie will completely knock Hope off her feet... especially when I open my door and they get in my bed.. I think they are fighting of who gets my pillow.. LOL

my babies are the same way too!!!
 

Oooooo... I know that "challenge stare"! We call it the "Wild Kingdom Stalking"! and Ditto on the two toy thing. They only want what the other one has! You should see them both carrying the same Tiny Tiny Tennis ball! Cracks me up everytime!

Same here. 3 lb Pixie beats up sweet 5 lb Cali. Today I heard this banging noise and I see Pixie knocking Cali into the closet door. If I stop Pixie thinking Cali is getting hurt, Cali walks back over to her.

Anytime Marty has a playmate over, he plays pretty hard with him/her. It's all in fun...as in there is never any growling or biting, but he does get rough. After he's all tired out, he'll usually lay down and go to sleep with his playmate (or me or my husband).

I think it's just normal interaction and nothing to worry about.

My two are at it right now! LOL!

Same at my house. No one seems to get hurt, but it sure does sound like someone's getting it! Anyway, it's fun to watch them chase each other in circles.

Sophia and Jake are the SAME WAY...I have 2 toy boxes...One upstairs and one downstairs...But that doesnt matter, they have to have the toy the other has!!

Sammi and Sophia didnt have that problem...Sammi was not as friendly and playful as Jake (even as a puppy)...I think her being sick might have contributed to that though...

Yes, I agree - this must be TOTALLY normal because that's how it's been at my house since I've brought miss Tatum home. Mind you Tatum is only 14 weeks, and Stedman is a year old.

SHE thinks she runs this house, let me tell you! When Stedman gets a toy, she will run right up to him and try to rip it directly out of his mouth! :eek: She chases him, bites him (she literally makes him SCREAM! - and I DO NOT like this one bit!!! :mad:), and pounces him all the time!

They do play "together" - but over these past few days she has REALLY opened up and she is such a little FIREBALL!!! :eek: :eek: :eek: Stedman has actually been trying to get AWAY from her, I feel so bad for my little Steddy - poor little man just wants a break :( lol.

And I don't know WHAT he is going to do when Tatum learns how to jump up on the couch like he does - because right now, that is his only escape from her :eek:

But I had to laugh when I read the part you wrote about the Nylabones because it is exactly like that over at my house. In fact, just last night I took TWO brand spankin' new Nylabones out of the bag and gave one to EACH furkid. I even put it in their mouths at the same time instead of just dropping them on the ground where they would fight over them. WELL OF COURSE! Did it actually MATTER that I did that? No not really. lol. There they are, scrapping over the same friggin' one! :mad: So I said ok whatever I give up yall just go at it and whoever gets it, gets it. lol.

Eventually they got over it and Tatum went back to her OWN Nylabone and all was well again in this crazy house lol. But anyway, I just wanted to tell you not to worry, because your two sound exactly like mine - so I'm thinking this behavior is pretty normal :p

YES-EXACTLY! That's Emma's only escape right now too! Maybe we should get Stedman and Emma together to discuss their older sibling issues :p And then the little terror girls could each have a taste of their own medicine! It's funny how we conveniently "forget" the bad things about the young stages... I remember going through it with Emma, but she didn't have anyone to team up with or beat up on, so I think it's been harder the second time. I do find, however, that I am much more relaxed with the second puppy than I was with Emma.

You described my two perfectly. Even though sometimes they seem to be jealous of each other I know each of them would be lost without the other.

My 2 are also like that - they actually chase each other so fast that they only stop when one of them slams into something LOL Then they star all over again.

And yes they love wrestling on our laps.

Today when I came home from work I took them outside to play because they had been in x pen all day. They ran and chased each other for about 15 mins LOL it was hilarious - my little boy is 3 lbs and girls is 5lbs. He would chase her first then he'd stop and realize... ok this isn't a good idea she's going to come after me in a bit. Then of course she would turn around and chase him his only escape was hiding in between small palm trees LOL LOL LOL :D

Girl, you took the words right out of my mouth lol. Like you said, the first time around wasn't as bad because there was only ONE - and there was no one else for them to TERRORIZE :mad: When I got Stedman at 12 weeks old, yes...he was VERY hyper and very playful - and HE TOO would have probably terrorized another dog if I had one in the house - but I don't - so he just played with his toys like a good little boy and that was that. But when puppy #2 came along...there was Stedman. Sitting there looking just like the PERFECT little object for her to POUNCE ON! :mad: And we can't of course forget the biting of STEDMAN'S REAR :mad: :rolleyes: He has about HAD IT with that part of this whole experience...tonight he let her have it and I LET HIM LET HER HAVE IT lol. Maybe if he gives her a little nip and she gets a taste of what it feels like to be BITTEN constantly she will BACK OFF a little :mad: I swear, I told my husband that we brought home the devil! LOL :eek:

Sounds just like the action at my house!!! Maltese is bigger but calmer and never gets rough. The Yorkie is 4 lbs smaller but is a terror. But they always have fun and never get vicious!

Yep --- that pretty much describes the action around here, especially the bit about fighting over one toy even when they have two exactly alike. Or in the case of ping pong balls and bully sticks, many just alike.

Right now they are running laps around table in family room, through the dining room, into the living room, periodically slamming into each other. Lots of noise accompanying the action.

When mine all get going, it is like a zoo. Maddie is laid back and just sits and barks at the other three, unless they get her favorite toy. Rudy and Polly will gang up on Sprout, but he is like lightning and they are chasing him through the whole house. As far as toys they always want what the other one has. Some night I don't even turn the tv on I watch the home yorkie channel.
