Why do Yorkies shake (tremble)? I have taken Lexi out in the car & she shakes. When she goes pee outside & the grass is wet she will shake. I can understand that she is probably cold. I take her everywhere with me. I have gotten into trouble from stores in Michigan saying I must take my pet out of the store. I am not going to leave her in the car. Can someone explain the shaking? |
hey r u an actress? i think it really is just cold. they are so little. my puppy bandit was the same exact way. if you just put her in a little doggie purse the people houldn't bother you. |
Fred shakes when I turn the blowdryer on. He also shakes when I hold him up in the air or put him on the computer table (because it's glass and he can see the bottom). I think it's because he's just scared |
Hi Actress and Lexi, welcome to YorkieTalk. I don't really know exactly what makes Yorkies shake (I call it shivering). I know Bo will also shiver when chilled. He also shivers when he's nervous or in a stressful situation like at the vets office or at the groomers. I was able to calm Bo's nervous shivering in the car by putting him in his crate and covering it with a throw. He calms down, doesn't whine and rests till we get where we're going. My Schnauzer doesn't shiver. My mom's maltese does. Maybe it's a toy dog thing?? Guess I'm not a lot of help but I do know that it's pretty common among Yorkies. |
yes they can shake from being scared, cold, excited...depends on the individual doggie...they are all different |
I just got Lexi 1 week ago. What will I do when it snows here? I have been poddy training her outside on the grass & she is doing very well. Should I put a shirt on her when it gets really cold outside? |
well, Chester shakes when it's time for him to go to the kitchen while I'm gone, when he knows it's bath time, or if he's done something wrong and he knows he's going to be in trouble for it. I just reassure him and he stops. |
ACTRESS, definately get little Lexi a sweater to wear out in cold weather. Then there's the added benefit...another excuse to go shopping!! LOL! |
Jewels shakes when someone besides us picks her up but also if we pick her up wrong. So I think they can shake from gereal nervousnous. |
yes i think you should defenatly use a shirt we had a little sweater we used for bandit. |
My older yorkie shakes when she is nervous or cold. Have an 11 week old and sometimes he will shake for no apparant reason whatsoever. I believe it is hypoglycemia and will give him a little nutrastat. Seems to help. |
Since you've only had the baby for a week she needs time to adjust to her surroundings. If she's very young she will be nervous and excited on every new adventure. As she ages she will become more comfortable and beat you to the front door as she hears the keys. The cold weather she will adapte to over time, in the mean time keep a little sweater on her till it warms up. When they get a bit older they become accustom to doing their business outside no matter the weather because by then its routine, just keep em warm. hope this helps |
