Yorkies & Jerky ? If you make your own jerky , isn't it healthy for our babies also? Is there anything in it that would harm them?:aimeeyork Bogey just loves the ones that you buy at the petstore. It seems to me that what is made at home should be just as good for them. |
Go right ahead- Home made can be best. You have more quality control. You know how much sodium you've added and zero preservatives. Wanna cook up some for my kids too? :p (by the way, on average you'll be saving yourself quite a bit of $$ doing this yourself too!) |
I'd like some myself, and of course I'd share wih Skippy, |
To make jerky, you have to have the right seasoning. Then slice the beef (venison is best) and bake in the oven on a very low setting for quite awhile. Why would you want to feed the dog venison? Just slice the meat, quick fry it and feed. |
Are you kidding me? VENISON JERKY ROCKS! ;) I think the poster was making some for herself anyway and was wanting to know if she could give that to her dog(s) rather than spending the money on the store bought jerky from the petstore. And if the poster wanted to, (we had a dehumidifier that my dad always used to make his own jerky) she could simply NOT put any seasoning on the jerky that she's to give the dogs when she makes it. |
Vension does rock !! I made some vension jerky today (with a dehydrator) & seasoned it like normal (for a human). Bogey couldn't get enough of it. Although he only got 2 pieces! Even the ones I buy at the petstore have seasoning. Next, I'll make some with no seasoning except for salt. It has to have some salt added for a curing ingredient. I have a sealer & will seal some for future use. |
:D I bet he thought he was in doggie heaven. :p Mine go crazy over it. I've done venison; turkey and chicken and they've all, naturally been a big hit. :aimeeyork Yorkies are great. |
