Destroy? Does anyone elses Yorkie destroy your doormats? we have a rug/doormat at our front and back door and Gracie tore alot of it apart! so we got new ones and she did it again!!! Anyone else have this problem? What should i do???? |
yeah I kept finding pieces of mine all over my floor, and realized Ralfie had made it his personal chew toy. He's in his teething stage so I just put it away for awhile, and am hoping one day I can put it back without him attacking it. He also chews on wall corners.... grrrr. Haha I'm considering getting baby gates to limit where he can go and the damage he can inflict. That's about the only solution I can come up with, Ill be interested to see if there are any better ones. :D |
Reese would chew his way out of a baby gate. I finally covered the plastic mesh with shelf paper and that worked. Just a suggestion. lol They might just like the rugs cause that where you wipe your feet. Reese likes dirty socks they are his fav thing we have. lol |
When Trixie Bear was younger she had a thing for our rugs but thank goodness she grew out of it. Only thing I can suggest is to keep saying no when you see it happening. Maybe take the rugs up, LOL :p Once in a great while Trix has that look in her eye like she's gonna go for the rug but she looks at me and knows its a NO NO!! Just keep reinforcing that its bad  and hopefully the behavior will stop. Good Luck |
Well shes almost a year and this behavior has just started lately in like the last month ... i dont want to have to pick them up id rather find a way to stop it lol thx ... any more advice?? |
Have you checked with the vet to see if perhaps she has retained puppy teeth? That's a thought, if she's still teething. When you catch her, reprimand her for this behavior! Whatever method you have for correction, be consistent in letting her know rugs are NOT chew toys - and, of course, be sure she has her own chew toys to get out her puppy chewing on. I had oriental rugs in my foyer, and Abigail destroyed the fringe on both the runner and the one in front of the door! It was time for new ones - they had served us well for 20 years - but, I didn't dare even think of new ones until she got through this phase! We just recently (last week) replaced one, and so far so good - no chewing, pp, or poo :p . |
My yorkie doesnt do this but one of my cats does! |
