Question about Yorkie digestion HI Everyone, Our family are new to Yorkies and have a question. Our puppy is almost six months old and recently had a scary bout with a poop that seemed too big to come out. Poor girl was in major distress as you can imagine. My husband manually disempacted her but we want to prevent it from happening again. Her food has not changed since we got her at nine weeks BUT on occasion she does get a 'treat' slipped to her. Could it be the treats or is this something that these tiny creatures are prone to have happen? Any help is greatly appreciated. Luke's Mom |
problem Poor baby...it could be lack of water in her stool...some eat only dry and the stools can get hard...make sure she drinks frequently during the say... |
digestion I have found that any change in food can cause constipation and/or diarreah. Whenever I give my dog ANYTHING different I have to start out very slowly. Even biscuits they aren't used to can cause upset tummys. |
Princess and her digestion Thanks everyone....I was wondering if our bad weather was making her hold back stool - it was very cold and she didn't want to go out. It makes sense that maybe she isn't drinking enough. She seems fine now but I certainly don't want this to happen again as she is usually so full of life and such a great little dog. I enjoy this site and I am glad I found it! |
