Licking
 
At times, my Yorkie licks my hands, toes, etc.

Is she lacking salt in her diet?

I know mine lick us all the time--everywhere. Our ears, eyes -- I do think they like salty skin. They also like cuts and things too.

Some dogs are just lickers, some LOVE body lotion, some smell food on a hands.
We had one Pom that was toe licker.....yah know as long as knew feet were clean, I would let ! Do I need therapy now????????????? hahhaha

You are right about the lotion. I try to put on lotion and Bronx licks it off as fast as I put it on. I think I am making my skin more dry.

I think a lot of the licking they do is also to show affection. They probably give a lick and then think..."This tastes like more." LOL I've also noticed Maddie likes the taste of lotions...she'll even grab a sheet of bounce fabric softener and want to chew on that...I just don't get it!

I think they do it out of affection. Don't they lick you (kiss) when you come home? Mine do. I don't dare lay down when I come in, I drown in Yorkie kisses. The only one who licks me for no apparent reason is Pirogue. He especially likes my hands and arms. It really tickles when he licks my neck. Pirogue is a very independant person. I think he licks me as a way to be loving to me without me gushing love on him. Sylvia

I also think licking (kissing) is their way of showing affection. Boo Boo loves to kiss, and kisses me or my husband dozens of times a day. Pookie is not as generous with his kisses. But when he does kiss you, it really is special.

Silk is the biggest licker in our house. Remmy licks but Silk does so much more. We are trying to teach her to let us pet her without so much licking...she will jump up right in your face and go to town. :D
