Advantage Does anyone here use it and when you do does your dog go crazy? Boo act like he is dieing when I put it on him. Running all around the house and acting like he is in trouble. |
Yes, mine do too. Actually thats how ZsaZsa broke her leg, she was on the bed rolling and flipping and rubbing trying to get the meds off and she fell off. I keep them on the floor when they get meds now. |

What I've come to figure is that the Advantage itches to them because Dexter likes to roll around on the carpet to try and get it off or scratch the back of his neck. I mean, if you had to put drops of liquid in your hair and it itched really bad but you couldn't scratch it, wouldn't that just drive you nuts???! I know it would drive ME nuts. hehe I just used Advantage on both of my dogs and since Lily is right at 10lbs and I use the Advantage up to 10lbs, it doesn't seem to work on her very well. It's been a week and she's still scratching like she has fleas. I just bathed her with a flea shampoo, but still she still has fleas. Anyone have any suggestions/ideas on how to get rid of the fleas after I've already used the Advantage and the flea shampoo? Can I use another Advantage or do I have to wait another month for that??? |

Really???! I never knew that! I will def try it as long as it's totally and completely safe. |
Its safe. If you have fleas in your carpet you may also need to bomb your house. The dawn doesnt prevent them from getting new fleas but it will kill the ones on them |

Good to know. Luckily we primarily have laminate floors. Whew! |
If I bathe Lily right now, only a week after putting Advantage on her, wouldn't that eliminate the Advantage? If I bathe her with Dawn, should I put another Advantage on her or just wait until next month??? |
No you can bath them even though you have put the advantage on as long as its been like 3 days since you put it on. The advantage assorbs into the skin. I would not reapply the advantage untill next month. I would worry about them having too much insecticide in their system |
if you use dawn, be sure to leave it on for a couple of minutes to give it time to suffocate all the fleas. Also, don't use another tube of advantage. It says not to bathe her for 2 days before or 2 days after using it! I work a t am vets office and they have a new advantage multi that I won't reccomend. (My boss the vet does but I hate it). If your vet reccomends it ask to read the box first. It says it takes care of heartworms, fleas whips hooks and rounds. Watch your dog for 1/2 hour after applying. Do not let any other animals or children around dog for 1/2 hour or an hour, I cna't remember which. It's crazy, if it's that toxic, it ain't goin on my babies! |

Doh! That's probably why it didn't work then! I bathed them both and then put the Advantage on right after! Or maybe it was a day after. Either way, I messed up! :( Oh well, I\'m going to try the Dawn and then just start over again next month then with the Advantage. Thanks for all the help you guys!! :wavey: |
I just thought about something: Does it have to be Dawn? I don\'t think I have Dawn. I know it\'s a different brand but I\'m at work and can\'t think of the exact name of it right now. |
So does anyone know if you can use anything other than Dawn for fleas??? I have Ajax. |
