AKC, ACA, UKC: Should I register my pups??? I'm confused! I'm not sure of the purpose of registering my pups. My first pup, Daisy, came to me with UKC papers. I never filed them. My newer two, Darcy is ACA and Rocky is AKC. If I'm not going to breed them or show them, why should I register them? What happens if they are registered and Darcy and Rocky have pups? How would the pups be labeled? Too many questions! Too many confusing letters.... Help!!!!! |
Good questions!!! I'd like to know these answers myself. |

Okay, first off, if you are not planning on breeding or showing there is really no need to register them unless you just want to. I am strange. I wouldn't have an unpapered dog. Answer number two is if one is registered ACA and one is AKC then the puppies would just be unregisterable. Both parents have to be AKC registered for the puppies to be registered. i don't know anything about ACA. We don't have anything but AKC or UKC here in my part of the country. |
