Mimi went into HEAT.... She had an appt to get spayed next Friday and she went into heat. I need to reschedule the appt but needed to know how long do I have to wait. I'm a nervous wreck and devasted that I've push the date out so long. I feel like its my fault that I didn't get her fixed sooner and now she's going through this. Also, she's been aggresive & nasty with Timmy for the past 2 days. Is it because she's in heat? She will not let him get near any of the chew toys. They've been really fighting and it is really making me sad:( She's not aggresive to us at all just him. Gossshh I can't wait until my vets office opens today. I'm so full of questions. |
They tend to have more mood swings when they are in heat . Some vets ask to wait 2 months after the heat periods for having them spayed . |
It's not your fault!! This is all one big learning experience for all of us. Anyway, Peanut used to have TERRIBLE PMS when she was in heat. She is normally a very sweet and mellow girl, loves everyone, never barks. I remember she would just get this evil look on her face and sit on the couch all day facing away from everyone. :) I remember my vet had me wait two months to spay her... not sure what the reason is though. Don't worry, her mood swings are temporary. |

This has happened to me twice! The first time because I was in denial about her still being a baby and the second time my other girl went into heat early (at 6 months). I had to wait 2 months for the first but my second girl they operated on within a month. It had to be done because she developed an infection and her uterus became enlarged so it was an emergency surgery. |
I think I was in denial too. I just called my vet and they stated I could wait or they can do it now while she is in heat but its going to cost more:eek: I told them I rather wait. I'm not playing this item...I'm taking her in 2 months. I don't think she likes wearing baby diapers:D |

I'm not an expert but I have studied in the past (when I wanted to show dachshunds, a dream deferred), but I know the male can go crazy if he is not neutered and try anything and everything to get to the female and vice versa. So, I figure you can never be too careful. |

that's not too odd. mine have always gone into heat at 6 months and every 6 months after. i just got my new baby who is 5 months....i am now trying to figure out how to keep my male from her b/4 she does go into heat. i know from experience the belly band and diaper does not work. when there is a will.......doggonit...there is a way |

Well its young for me because I've never owned a female so never knew what to expect with Mimi. I almost had a heart failure when I noticed she was in heat I could imagine if she were younger like your girl.... |
