Sliding glass doggy door or patio doggy door 1 Attachment(s) Hey everyone, does anyone have any experience with those doggy doors that are inserts in sliding glass doors?? I attached a photo so you can see what I'm talking about. I'm just wondering what the best kind or brand is? And if anyone has any good/bad experience. Also, if anyone knows of a good place to buy them at. They really range in pricing. |
I have one we got at Petco, it was like $200:eek: I HATE this thing, because my sliders are very old and it doesn't seal well. So I'm losing tons of A/C:( If your sliders are pretty new, you should be okay. Maybe mine is bad cuz hubby does NOT read directions:rolleyes: I have no idea about the brand, sorry, we got it a couple of years ago for Starr:( Do make sure that it has a panel you can slide in so you can cut off access if needed;) |
Oh yes... we don't have a doggie door now because we are out in the country and have only a barbed wire fence around our property (can you just see the skunks and other critters wandering in?? ) but we had a sliding glass door at our old house when we had our toy poodle. This house was in town with a fenced in yard so it was the perfect situation for a doggie door. I loved it!! I honestly don't remember how much it cost (between $100-200, I believe) because it was so long ago but it was SO worth it!! We first had it in our living room sliding glass door but when we replaced that with french doors, we moved it to the bedroom sliding glass door. It worked great. I highly recommend it. I would just keep internet searching to find the best deal. I like the sites that have customer reviews. Those have saved me from some costly purchase mistakes in the past. Good luck! |
Awesome, thanks for your input |

We got ours from petsmart for $100. It goes out on our screened porch. I keep the potty pads out there in a childs tent. It works great for them getting in & out. |
Wow, Debbie I like your tent idea:thumbup: I may try that as I've gotten a tent for them to play in but they really don't:laugh: Thanks:D |
I am wondering if anyone can give me some advise on installing a door sensor on a Sliding Glass Door. When the doors come together there is a lip on one that overlaps the other. Because of this, i am not able to secure the sensor with screws. This is a rental property so I do not want to use an adhesive tape. I am concerned with people closing the doors hard and the sensors moving or falling off. What other options do I have? |
