Crate Size I am looking for a crate that can fit both a five pound yorkie and her 3 week old pup as it grows. We are keeping the pup so the crate will need to work when they are older. I found this one on Ebay... is it large enough to have a bed and some room to move around? It is hard to tell from a picture alone! What size crate do most of you have that you have a bed and a potty pad (that is for the puppy, momma is trained to go outside) Thanks!! |
oops! I forgot the link to what I found on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...6793&rd=1&rd=1 It seems reasonably priced??? |
I'm still very new to this, but what i've read on here and other sites is that you don't usually put a puppy (pee) pad in the crate... the dogs usually don't want to do the deed in close areas to where they sleep/eat... so crates are just to teach them to hold their bladders... but again, i'm new... I saw your link... and that's a GREAT deal on EBAY... we bought a crate (not sure how big) of the same brand MIDWEST for well over 60 bucks CAD and i believe it was one of the smaller ones... Hopefully someone else will be able to answer the question... i'll look tonight and see what the dimensions are... i still have the box. |

The potty pad won't stay in there... I train my dogs to go outside... but I won't even attempt that until my puppy is at least 8 weeks (currently 3 weeks). Since it is such a large investment I will put a large bed in there for them for future use. It kind of like is a e-pen but the puppy won't have access to my carpet = ) I guess it is going to serve as a whelping box for a few more weeks and then just a place for them to rest. It has a divider so I can make it any size I need. I know I have seen others on Yorkietalk that have used this type of crate but I can't find the threads!!! |
