Question about spaying :aimeeyork My dog, Tinkerbell had her spaying on January 25, 2007. Ever since she's had this knot on her stomach. I asked the vet about it when I got her stiches out and he mentioned a busted blood vessel or something since it was red and swollen. Since then the redness has went away but the knot is still there. She doesn't act like it hurts or anything when I touch it and acts as if nothing is wrong. SHould I be concerned? Any input would be appreciated. |

It could be an internal suture that has not dissolved yet. Gracie had her spay in December. They used glue to close her skin, but dissolvable sutures underneath. I can feel the little line of suture still, it is like a bump. |
More than likely, its scar tissue. When the edges of skin or layers of muscle are brought together to be sutured, they heal and alot of times leave scar tissue. Its harmless and poses no pain. Think of it as a seam in a shirt. Its not as smooth as the fabric around it. It feels "knotted". |
Thanks so much! THat makes me feel alot better about it....I didn't think it was a problem since she didn't seem to be hurting but I wanted to make sure! |
Misha's healed great from her Vet. We changed Vets & Piper was due to get spayed. Her's didn't heal so well, she had a bump, but it was oozing. She got an infection from a disolvable stitch. The Vet put her on antibiotics, cleared up & the knot was gone. |
