grooming program website refuses to refund..legal action?? I am so frustrated! In September I purchased an at home program for dog grooming. I tried to make it work, but the DVD's only worked in my desktop and not in a place where I could watch and groom a dog. Also, I was mislead as to what it takes to have a business out of your home. Their site offers a 100% money back guarentee if you are not satisfied. I tried another set of DVD's from them, but those do not work on my laptop nor my DVD player either. I have been treated VERY rudely by this company. The emails are lengthy and SO rude. They want to send me another set (which they were supposed to send me a month ago and didn't with some really bad excuse) but I have had it. I want a refund. I no longer am interested in trying this business especially using their progem and with how I have been treated. I have a feeling I am screwed out of more then $250. ARe there any legal sites on the web that deal with businesses acting in this manner??? Suzie |
If it's within a certain period of time, you can contact your credit card company and complain. Document everything you have tried and what the company has promised. Otherwise, you could contact the Better Business Bureau, your local state attorney general, or look into mail fraud with the US Postal Service (if they are taking money and sending goods that don't work, I believe that's considered mail fraud). Good luck in getting your money back! Be firm and professional when dealing with everyone. Yelling, screaming, or cussing usually don't work too well... |
good advice Excellant points. Thank you. Yes, I've actually been extremly nice to these people. Purhaps too nice. We'll see what happens. I will look into your suggestions. suzie |
refund Well, it looks like they are going to refund but not after sending me another LONG email insulting me saying that "I have lost interest and wasted their time". They will not take responsibility for their product not working. They claim that this has happened to two other people but I guess those people just kept taking new copies of the DVD hoping it would work. I say that after a while of being treated horribly and product not working, why would I want to continue this? They also want to charge me the 8% credit card fees even though on their site it says 100% money back guarentee if not satisfied. suz |

About the 8% - if their site clearly says 100% money back guarantee, the can not withhold 8%. Print the page where it says 100% money back in case they try to say that was never up there. Also, tell them your attorney will be in contact with them.. even if you don't even have one. That generally scares them into refunding it (I have a few lawyers in the family). Good luck! |
My credit card company said they are going to go after them but this woman keeps sending me these long insulting emails. She is now harassing me. She is telling me I dont' know how DVD's and computers work and...well... you wouldn't believe what she is accusing me of. I don't know what to do. Can I block her? But will that interfere with getting my money. Actually, the credit card company paid it back and is going after her now. She has some screws loose. She will not admit that her product does not work and wants to blame it all on me. She says that to create DVD's that work on all systems would cost thousands of dollars and that I should move my entire office (desktop system because it is the only place it works on) down to my basement (where I groom). She also doesn't understand the frustration that This is the third set that they were supposed to send me (but didn't). In any other store, if you had to return something for the 2nd or 3rd time, youwould want your money back. suz |
Tell her you are saving all the emails and that if it continues, you will file against her for harrassment. What state is her company based in? |
Just ignore her harassing emails and block her emails or send them directly to your email trash folder. If your credit card company is going to work with you, and you have all the documentation they need, such as a printout of the 100% money back guarantee, you don't need to deal with her at all. :) Glad everything worked out for you! If you feel comfortable about it, you can post the website or program's name here, so people here in the future don't face the same problems that you have had... |
She is in the state of Florida. Once I feel enough time has gone by and I am free and clear, I'll post the business. I think it is horrid to treat people this way but I wonder if maybe she has a mental problem. My friends read the emails and could not believe how bad they were. suz |
The next time the company calls you, I'd inform them that you've saved all of their e-mails & that the Better Business Bureau is very interested in reading each & every one of them. Say it very matter of factly & tell them any further correspondence from them is being copied to the BBB, Florida State Attorney General & your credit card company. Make sure you get his or her full name, any ID number he or she may have associated with the company & the supervisor's full name. Even if you don't follow through with the BBB or Attorney General thing, it might make them knock it off. Hope you get every single penny back! CJ |
I'd like to know which company it is...that way, I can avoid them in the future! :thumbdown |
