The 1st couple of times we had Max groomed, not too much was done so that he would get used to the groomer & the areas she'd be handling. So, maybe the areas weren't trimmed as much as would be done now, but if it makes a new situation less stressful for my baby, then I'm all for it, as I'm sure you are, too. So, for the 1st couple of months, he got "shaggy" sooner than he does now...but he was just a baby & hair growing quickly, too. Max is 7 months & and has gone to the groomer 1x per month. I'm working with him at home now, trying to figure this out to do myself from now on. I'm a little freaked about the ear hair, myself. LOL I'm not a fan of eyebrow plucking, so I'm a little skiddish of plucking Max. We'll give it a go, a bit at a time. Lexi is adorable, you're a proud momma, and the lady at the store needs to back off! I would have been OK with her comments about this & that being done a different way (not all groomers are familiar with Yorkies, after all) but the auto-pluck would have sent me out of the store in a flash. I would let anyone get away with plucking my children like that, and in my eyes, my little man Max is no different. I have been accused of being overprotective of all of them a time or twelve, so that may very well be the case here, too. LOL |
lexi's mom- If you felt comfortable going to Petsmart then continue going there, they more than likely didn't do her ear hair because she is young and didnt trim her feet too short because they wanted her to get used to being there and being groomed. It is normal for groomers to do this. I know that this is the way that things are handled in our salon but we do make sure to make the pet parent aware of why we didn't do certain things a certain way. It is best for your dog to continue going to the same place and same person if possible because they get used to that place and person and get comfortable with them. Once they are comfortable with a person/place it takes a load of stress off the dog. You are the momma and you know what is right for your baby. What this lady did was not right anyway you cut it. |
