Dominance issues? Help. 1 Attachment(s) Bear's been acting weird lately. I'll be sitting on the couch and he'll look at me and I'll look at him dead in the eyes and he'll growl and I keep looking at him and then he'll jump back and bark. He keeps doing this over and over. He also does not like it when I take bubble baths. I'll be relaxing in the tub and he'll jump up to the edge and do the same thing. What's going on here? Help. It's cute but If it's a dominance issue I want to stop it before it's too late. Thanks. Krystal P.S. Here's a picture of Bear and I being incredibly goofy taken last night. Hope it brightens your day. |
Sorry I'm no help with your issue, but I had to tell you that that pic is totally frameable! SO cute:D!!! |
honestly, I would keep testing him to see if it is dominence. if it is, correct him. make him submit. but on a lighter note, i agree...that is one adorable picture!!!! |
Thanks all.....I'm so up in the air as to how to fix this little issue. thank youi. |
My little boy will do that too. He wants me to get my butt off of the couch and chase him. Sometimes he will go get a toy and then we have to have a game of keep away. He is not much on fetching but loves to be chased. |
When he starts the barking pick him up and turn him on his back until he lays there and not fighting it...That tells him your alpha....:) your pic is way to cute....:D |
I would say (especially if he is a puppy) that he just wants to play. My little guy is always doing this too. Sometimes when we are outside he also crouches down like he's about to attack me, and then he pounces up and barks, but then comes to my face a licks and licks me, so I know it's all about playing. |
I am glad someone else also experiences these weird times. Buddy has done that in the past until I told him no growling. He seems to understand that now but the newest thing is bringing a toy under the bed at night and protecting it! I reached for the quilt the other night and he actually layed across my chest and growled at me thinking I was going to get it I guess. I waited a few minutes then got up turned on the light and threatened his life as I removed the toy from the bedroom. He because very docile then and begged for forgiveness. No more toys in the bedroom at night. I have no clue what goes through their minds be he does challenge me from time to time. I will never allow him to be above me ever. But he does try. I have always been told that it isn't good to stare into a dogs eyes...Sadie will growl too if I do that to her...they just don't like it...never had a dog that did.. |
Daisy does this too when she wants to be chased. She loves to grab a toy and have you chase her and try to get the toy. |
It is a challenge to fight when dogs stare each other in the eyes, so I don't usually stare my dog in the eyes. It's not really a stare down, it's actually an invitation to fight. So I wouldn't do it. |
I can't tell which is Bear and which is your... you both have a hairy in your face and it looks like you are both making a face... Cute picture |
