First Yorkie, first vet visit We recently bought our first Yorkie from a reputable local breeder. He has now been part of the family for 3 weeks. I just got back from my first vet visit and was a bit shocked by his weight. "Jacob" is 16 weeks old today and is already 4.5 lbs. Is he going to be gigantic? We love him no matter what, but he is bred from 2 champions so we were expecting 7lbs or less. The vet says he is perfectly healthy and in no way overweight. Also, any tips on transitioning him from pad training to outdoors? He goes with us willingly on the leash but still seems to prefer the pad for his business... Thanks! |
Welcome to YT. Congratulation on your new baby boy. Seems like he is a one healthy big boy!!! You never know until he grows up what he is going to be, large or small. I think not only the parents but grand-parents affect the size of the yorkie, but it is just my opinion. I met someone who purchased teacup yorkie but her yorkie was much bigger than my yorkie and I didn't buy teacup yorkie. (Personally there is no such thing as a "teacup" yorkie...) I was looking for a healthy not too small yorkie but I end up pretty small yorkie. Thank goodness she is healthy!!! As for the pee pee training outside, sorry I can't help you since my Momiji only uses pee pad.... |
I never used the pads... but the breeder did... I just brought them outside for awhile so the pups got the idea. It didn't take them long to figure it out. |
welcome,,,,, first i want to say, the bigger the better about the outside training, what i did is put a pad on my deck and lexi goes outside too, believe me, they do catch on, when they finally do potty outside, praise like no end.. |
