6 wk old yorkie questions? Does 2.3lbs sound average for a 6.5 wk old pup? |
That sounds like it is a larger pup to me |
thats what i thought too, but when i looked at some breeders website the average was 27-32 oz which when i checked how many oz were in a pound is was 16oz. so i cant tell he is large looking just fat. a little rolly polly |
I would wait for other responses though I am basing it upon my dogs and I dont think they are the norm. One of mine was 12 oz at 8 weeks and she is 6 lbs the other was 1 lb at 6 weeks and he is 10 lbs |
:) big difference huh mom was 7lbs before she got pregnant and dad was 4lbs Thanks for some help i appreiate it!! i brought home a male last night who looks like a mini rott...he was born xmas day i thinking of naming him nicholas |
that to me sounds like a 7-8 lber. my two were 4lbs at 8wks. one is now 6lbs and the other 8lbs. it is really hard to tell at this time. my friend who got one of my last litter, she was 2lbs at 6weeks and now she is 6months and is only 3.5lbs. so you never know |
welp..i will be taking a chance i guess, i hope he isnt too large because i wanted to breed my gidget when she is older i think she will top at 6-7lbs so if maybe he'll suprise me, he was a surprise for me from my husband for V Day. his coat is really nice its shiny, thick and silky, his colors are very rich, i'll post pics soon:animal-pa |
I've been looking at pups too. I seen a 2.3lb pup and it was 12 weeks old. The mom and dad were 5 1/2 pounds. I don't know if this helps any, but just to compare :) |
at six weeks Peeka was 1 lb 3 ozs and at 15 1/2 weeks Daisy is 2lbs 6 ozs it sounds like it will be a larger baby but you never know i guess just keep an eye on his weight. Was he the only pup in the litter? |

nope there were 7 pups, 5 boys and 2 girls, the one i got was the smallest male, some of the females were more petite framed, he has a very cobby body (i think thats is what you call it) hold a sec im gonna post some pics |
I believe my Hailee was 1.3lbs at 12 wks. She is full grown at 3.5lbs. |
4 Attachment(s) pics of "nicholas" |
My female Lilly was 2.5 lbs at 10 weeks and she now weighs 5lbs full grown. My male Tucker was 3.5 lbs at 10 weeks and he now weighs 7lbs full grown. I was told they gain faster at the beginning and start to slow down... maybe that little guy got off to a good start and will slow down... who knows ... it is almost impossible to tell, they are just like human babies birth weight and childhood size doesn't necessarily tell us much about adulthood. Go figure = ) |
