Barking in EVERY ROOM!! for the last few weeks my hubby has been working nights and my Bella will walk around the WHOLE apt and bark in EVERY ROOM ( I MEAN EVER ROOM) with her LOUDEST bark she can bark (AND ITS LOUD!)... then jump back on the couch and then about 20 min later she dose it again. No matter what I do, I cant get her to stop... But she only dose this when my hubby works nights. Dose any one else furbaby do this?? How can I get her to stop? we have quit hrs here (8pm) and I dont want the people who live in my building calling the MP's (Military Police). Which means, they will be calling my hubby on me lol. |
OMGness...Sounds like she's trying to protect her turf in Daddy's absence. How cute... No suggestions on how to stop it here... BUMP! |
OMG!!! "Where's my daddy?" I hope she stops for you. I'm not sure what you could do. Hopefull hubby will get off those nights quick! |
Since your husband isn't awake to take his roll as protecter, she has taken over. All she is doing is clearing out any unwanted "boogie-men" in the apt. Sounds like she is doing an excellent job too. |
i have the same thing going on with lexi... bark bark, bark... when im alone in the house... when my b/f is there, shes ok with that.... it seems that she is protecting her turf.... i try to play with her as much as i can to get her tired so she wont bark and sleep instead.. its rough. |
If you are going to get in trouble for the barking I would consider one of those soft mesh muzzles. I have small children and if my dogs go on a barking rampage after I put the kiddos to sleep sometimes I am forced to put it on for about 1/2 hour until my kids are asleep. I think my dogs are catching on because if I just stand up and start walking towards them they stop. I hardly have to do it anymore. The mesh muzzles I have allow for drinking and they are very light. If it is a matter of you getting complaints you may have no choice = ( |

It does appear as if she is picking up the slack as the leader since the "real" leader is not there. So, why don't you show her that you are the leader, when hubby is not there and walk in every room and bark and look around, show her that everything is ok, because YOU checked and go sit down. She may stop, when she knows you are doing it for her. |

Thats prob Crazy enough to work... It will either encourage her or make her stop bc she might think, she drove mommy crazy lol (at this point I will try anything) |
Room to Room huh? Are you afraid, sleeping on the couch? She may be able to since you are uneasy. If you are Maybe it will make you feel better to have the phone next to you, maybe a knife under your mattress:rolleyes: -for protection, make sure all the doors & windows are locked, take the dogs thru each room before bedtime to do a security check:D Then shut your bedroom door that way they only have the door to guard & probably wont make a peep until dad gets home in the morning. You all will get use to it soon;) |

No, Not afraid or sleeping on the couch. I have my hubbys coworkers who live accross the st from us (who are MP's) I feel more safe here then when I use to live off post.... but when I do take a nap, I do have my phone or cell by me bc I never know when my hubby will call and I am TOO lazy to walk to the living room from my bed room to get the phone :P I'm trying to walking around and barking, a few min before she dose it... I think she thinks I am nuts lol She dose a low Grrr at me and then jumps on me , as if she is trying to push me out of the room. |

I wish I could give you some suggestions but i'm having the same problem out of Zoey. She'll run to the door barking at the slightest noise she hears and it's so annoying. However , I read through this post and i'm definately going to try the soft mesh muzzle. Otherwise , i'm going to get put out of my apartment! |
