Do you think this ad is misleading? Still looking and came across this.... http://www.ksl.com/?nid=218&ad=865699&cat=105&lpid=8 Quote:
Would not show quality be over 3 lbs as an adult or can you show a 3 lber? |
Of course you can show a 3 pound Yorkie! There is a picture of a 1 3/4 pound champion in The Complete Yorkshire Terrier. The standard for weight is "not to exceed 7 pounds." |
I like how it says "Sale pending" but she's practically begging you to "come see her" I'd steer clear of anyone using the T-word anyway:laugh: |
HOw crazy.. I wonder why I always thought the standard read 4-7 lbs , Funny how we remember things that never were never stated LOL/ |

Yes, you can show a 3 pounder. Very, very difficult to obtain a Championship. It's easier to Champion a male that is under say 5 pounds than a female. The whole purpose of showing is to gain approval of your breeding stock. |
Just be leery of the ksl ads anymore there are so many scammers on there now and BTW in the last 10 months this has been the most expensive yorkie on here i would go look at it if you want but i think that is a ridiculous price considering the breeders around here. I called at least 150 diff so called breeders trying to find my female Daisy (who i got shipped from out of state) The pickings here are slim. What are you looking for as far as quality? Are you looking to breed i can show you a few of the adds i looked at and i did go see some of the pups here is one add that i seen the puppy she will prob be 5-6 lbs but she is so cute. http://www.ksl.com/?nid=218&ad=835803&cat=&lpid=4 |
3000$ ouch.... personally I think you can find a show quality yorkie for alot less money. IMO people who charge 3000$ are just being greedy and are probably irresponsible breeders just looking to get rich quick. I'm in Canada, but if you ask around here, you'll find alot of great breeders in your area. Just my thoughts Shar-Lee & Finnigen |
I always thought the breed standard was 4-7 pounds too?? Dawn |

And the YTCA site: http://ytca.org/frame_index2.html Both sites say: "Weight Must not exceed seven pounds." There is no minimum. I understand they do not scale the dogs at AKC shows since weight is not a disqualification, so looking well-proportioned is most important. I am basing on reading only -- people like Mardelin (Mary) can give you the real life situation. |
I am 100% serious when i say we have a lot of crappy breeders here in Utah we have a puppy mill in Weat Jordan, we have people breeding 2 lb females we have people breeding 10 lb females, they breed dogs with over/underbites, dogs with horrible coats and dispositions, we have scammers, liars and so much more if you are looking for a dog here please do your homework they do not care about the standard nor do they care about the dogs. I have a few people i can recomend if you want to pm me. but if you are looking for a female to use for breeding you will not find one here in Utah that will meet the standards. I guess i shouldn't say everyone here because i haven't been everywhere but i have contacted over 150 so called breeders and i have went to see many pups. |
AMBER LV... Can you tell me by pm the names of the puppy illers in WJ? I had a run in with someone and I swear she has dogs in the paper every weekend under a different phone number.... It makes it so hard for me becasue I am not local. I am on the eastern side of the state so I dont have all of the ins that you all do, I found a wonderful breeder here that I got ritz from. It was sheer luck as she has only bred 2 x ever and was not breeding anymore, He is wonderful and healthy. although not the " perfect " example of a yorkie YET LOL.. He is a little longer than he is tall and his legs are very stumpy but I do love him Pm me your info so I know who and what to stay away from. I do know a lady in Sandy that flies fro free as she works for the airlines , to Oklahoma and brings back 5-10 pups at a time. Most are pretty poor examples of the breed, |

Ok Yeah... PM me your phone number :-) I love to talk dog. Yep, They run in spurts, Sometimes a lot of great ones and then a bunch of ratty breeders. I actually had looked at a puppy from the same people you bought daisy from. My brother lives in Aztec but I decided a summer puppy would suit me better so I am in search although not in a big hurry. |
