puppy's first bath question My yorkie will be 7 weeks old Friday, and she weighs alittle over 1 pound, I was just wandering if she needs to be alittle older before I give her her first bath, She has been in my home for 4 days now,if anyone could give me some advice and bath tips, it would be really appreciated. Thanks, Alicia |
i would wait but if she has to have a bath make sure the house is warm wrap her up and blow dry her good i would put a sweater on after and make sure you use a gentle shampoo |
ALSO MAKE SURE THAT YOU COVER HER EARS WITH COTTON BALLS OR EARPLUGS:aimeeyork |

I think it's fine.. just use warm water, be really gentle, use high quality shampoo and keep your blowdryer setting on low and keep it moving so it can't burn the skin. I usually towel dry my pups first really well so the drying time is cut to a minimum for them.. I hope to get them a cage dryer in the future. |
The best expierence for giving their 1st bath I think, is to get into the bath with them. Place them on your lap & gently bath them. I use puppy shampoo so it won't irritate their eyes. Condition afterwards. Make sure you rinse her well. Throw a bath towl in the dryer. Keep water out of the ears, cotton or earplugs. Blow dry on low heat. All 3 of mine got their 1st baths that way. Now they love bath time. |
Thanks for the advice Thank you, all this info will come in handy, I am going to wait a couple of weeks before I bathe her,I really love this website, everyone is so quick to answer questions, I wish I would have found it sooner, Thanks, Alicia :aimeeyork |
