Professional Pictures Ok I'm thinking of having Biddy & Tucker's pictures taken by a pro. A) Is this ridiculous? Do people do this? B) Will a professional photographer be able to control 2 dogs - because I have NEVER been able to get a good picture of both of them at the sam time! C) Do you think it would be very expensive? D) I know there aren't a lot of New Englanders on here - but does anyone know where I would find a photographer that takes dog photos? E) Would it be ridiculous to dress them up? F) Do you think I ask too many questions? |
A) I've done it a few times!! B) THey are amazing with 2 dogs. THey have tricks to get them to behave! THat was why I went too, I could never get a good pic of them together! C) I had some done by a private photographer and it cost about $150, then I went to PetSmart for a special they were having and the sitting fee was $5 and the pictures I actually purchased were about $100! The photographers were both very good! D) You might want to search on the web, I'm not sure where else to find them. Maybe call a local breeder..... E) Each time I went they took about 10 different poses so I dressed them up for a few and they were naked for a few so you can do both! F) NEVER too many questions ;) |
I have never done it, but I know people do do it. I think its a great idea! Our doggies are our children, and we would get our children's pics taken. |
A) Is this ridiculous? Do people do this? YES !!! B) Will a professional photographer be able to control 2 dogs - because I have NEVER been able to get a good picture of both of them at the sam time! YES ! They come out awesome at a professionals ! C) Do you think it would be very expensive? probably - but you can call around D) I know there aren't a lot of New Englanders on here - but does anyone know where I would find a photographer that takes dog photos? I USED to be from New England - Rhode Island and will be there in August !! but I don't know any photographers E) Would it be ridiculous to dress them up? No - they look adorable dressed but you could do both ! F) Do you think I ask too many questions? Hee Hee....no comment ? just kidding !! I think you are smart to ask - I've seen professional photos and they are sooooo awesome ...never had my girls done but would LOVE to if I had the $$$ |
A) Is this ridiculous? Do people do this? No this is not ridiculous, I actully like the idea, and yes, you would be surprised at how many people do have prfessionals take pictures of their dogs, heck Oprah had portaits painted of her dogs. B) Will a professional photographer be able to control 2 dogs - because I have NEVER been able to get a good picture of both of them at the sam time! This depends on the potographer, some could, and if they are quick even if they do move thery can still get good pics, kinda like working with roudy kids C) Do you think it would be very expensive? Also depends on the photographer, I think you would spend at least 60-90 for the shoot alone, and photos on top of that. It can be very expensive, but you could also look for coupons or special deals they might have going on D) I know there aren't a lot of New Englanders on here - but does anyone know where I would find a photographer that takes dog photos? Try your phonebook, call and ask, cant hurt but to try E) Would it be ridiculous to dress them up? No, I think it would be adorable, i know I would!!! F) Do you think I ask too many questions? NO, NO, NO!!! LOL I hope I have offered some help. Good luck |
Thank you all - I guess I just needed some encourgement! People in my "real" life (LOL) think this is ridiculous - so I figured I'd ask you guys since you all are a crazy as me!!! |
You could also put your children(if you have any) or you and your husband(if you have one) in the a couple of the pictures. A friend of mine had their pictures taken with their dog when they were little and it has always hung in there stairway. I think professional pictures come out great. My aunts have always done it, though I must say we always thought they were crazy, now I understand. Plus she didn't have kids so those were truely her kids. I don't know if anyone watched it but on the Osbornes how they had all those pics of their pets going up the stairs was gorgeous. |
I just saw a sign in Sears that they're doing animal photos now. I know a few people have just called some of the mall stores about getting animal photos done, and they have arranged to come in before the mall opens. My cousin and her husband have had a photo taken with their mastiff Abe for their last two Christams cards- it is so adorable! Sears isn't expensive at all, either. Maybe you could tire out your pups a little before going to make them eaiser for the photographer to control. I would think that if they've gone for a walk that day, or gotten a bath, played catch, etc., they'd have less energy than just getting up and going. Of course the excitement of going somewhere new and meeting a new person may "rile" them up a little. I would get there a little early to let them sniff everything and get used to the place. Good luck!! |
A.) Of course its ridiculous :) Plenty of people do it! B.) A photographer with experience working with animals should have very little problem with it. C.) Could be. The biggest chunk of change for a professional photographer usually comes from the sitting fee. It will be more if you have them come to you and less if they have a studio you can go to. If you find a couple other people who also want photos done, you may be able to negotiate a lower sitting fee (split up among a couple people). A lot of photogs are working digitally now so film charges are gone and so is the guess work (they know immediately whether the shot needs to be taken again). Prints are pretty standard costs whether its Sears or an independent. D.) Check the yellow pages and Google. A lot of photogs will have web sites. You definitely want someone with animal experience. A wedding photographer will not get you what you need. Some photogs will charge by the hour for sitting so the better they can handle dogs the cheaper for you :) E.) Well, I wouldn't spring for photos (my wife almost certainly would) so I wouldn't dress them :D BUT, if you're going to do it, do it big! Take shots without the outfits, with the outfits, shots for Chritmas, etc. Do it while you can! F.) Yes but isn't that why we're all here? :D Tom |
Urgh! I've been searching the internet all morning and I can't find anything in my area! I'm set on getting it done now, but I have NO idea how to find a photographer. I've tried google & yahoo - nothing! |
I would think that the best way to find them would be check the yellow pages for photographers in your area. Then personally call each one to ask if they do pets and how much experience they have had with them. Also you may be able to check with local groomers and vets. I think my vets office had an advertisement up once for someone offering pet photos. If your local sears does do pets and your worried about the money sears is actually pretty cheap and they do a pretty good job. You can become a member of their photo club (or something) for like 30 or 40 dollars and then you don't have a sitting fee for a year. Plus they have coupons a lot of 4.99 to 6.99 a sheet and 10.00 for a bunch of picures of just one pose. So if you do that membership thing you could actually take them in like every month or two and get new pictures for pretty cheap. |
I think any regular professional photographer who does family portaits could od it since a lot of people include their dog in the family photos. I think you can even take them to those studios in the malls and they know how to work with dogs. It's pretty common now a days. Don't be embarassed. |
I have a wonderful photographer who does all the photos on my website (she's in New York). However, I found her (and befriended her) through dog shows. If you know of a local dog show in your area, go to it! You will be certain to find the show photographer who will specialize in photos of dogs. ;) |
Thanks guys - I'll keep trying. I am going to call Sears. Also, my cousin is a dog groomer so she may know someone. Thanks! |
Petsmart takes them. you might call walmart or kmart. |
