Quilters, Sewing Ladies, Crafters I have a question for you all that has been bugging me for a bit. I like to sew. I like to quilt. I do many other crafts as well as floral design, which I do professionally. However, I have done none of these since I got Sassy. I don't know about all of you but it is inevitable with me that a safety pin or two ends up on the floor when I am pinning a quilt or something. I worry that she will eat one. Have any of you ever had a problem with this? Thanks bunches, Sammi |
omg yes, one day i was sewing and took a break .I went outside and came back in and my pincushion had fell on the floor.Rosie had taken every single last pin out of the cushion . IT SCARED ME TO DEATH.They were the quilters pin with the colored ball ends. I am very carefull now. |
YES!! That's what I am terribly afraid of. Sassy has not been allowed in my sewing room at all. For that matter, neither have I since she has been here. I do need to get back to my quilting, though. I promised my sister a laptop quilt and we selected the fabric months ago when I was in Maryland for a visit. I guess I need to figure out how to handle this situation. Suggestions appreciated. |

Was just thinking -- one thing that I do if I think I've dropped something is run a stick magnet over the carpet and that seems to find everything. Plus I vacumm every morning. |
i know i dropped pins all the time and Troy has shown no interest in them. i'm more worried of my toddler getting them. she like to stick them in her mouth like mommy!:eek: but then too i'm not big on pins either. |
If you think you have dropped pins or needles which is my problem,take a torch,flash light and lay it on the floor.As you move it around the pins will reflect in the light and then you can pick them up.:) |
I use the magnetic pin tray to keep my pins in. But I have dropped a few, so I just try to be extra carefull! |
I sew all the time and I even have a sewing/craft room in my basement...but as there's too much stuff down there for the pups to get into, I sew in the kitchen now. I've dropped the odd pin and thankfully found it right away but I do worry all the time about them finding one and getting hurt. I've used the magnet idea, but I wanted something bigger so I bought one of the big magnet sheets (they use them for signs) and I'm going to attach it to a swiffer I don't use and hopefully it'll work. The thing is that the pups are so fast to find anything that falls on the floor...they'd find it before I could get a hold of it. I guess we just have to be really careful. The other day when I was making my carseat for the pups, I stapled the seams together instead of using pins 'cause the pins kept falling out of the fabric and I was so afraid of the dogs getting hurt. |
I have my long table set up in the corner of the computer room, with the doggie fence from closet to wall. (two sides) I also have the vacuum cleaner in the closet that I use every time I'm done for the day. This way they are here with me, can see me, but can't get around the table to "graze" on anything. |
