Nutrical? I went to Petco the other day and looked for Nutrical, but they didn't have it. Where can I get this? I feel unsafe not having it handy... lol. |
Any vet will prescribe it for you. :p Also, if you feel your fur baby is having sugar episodes prior to you getting any Nutrical you can offer a little honey or sugar water. |
Online petedge DrsFosterSmith.com they will even send you free books. |
I have purchased Nutracal at PetSmart. I give a little to my Rowdy before he goes to bed, just to be sure he is OK during the night when he isn't eating. We've also had an episode of diarrhea and he didn't want to eat, so I think Nutracal saved me a lot of trouble. I wouldn't be without it. |
Most pet stores should have it....I got mine at PetsMart.....I had to ask someone who worked there if they had it, because I looked and looked and couldn't find it, but it was right in front of my face the whole time. It cost about $10 for a tube. ;) |
Thank you for the replies and information!! |
I got a puppy yesterday, she is 12 wks and smaller that I thought. Let Doc look her over yesterday, she is a healthy little thing. I asked him about Nutri-cal, I picked up a tube and Doc said to just give her 1 cc of karo every time she eats instead. She loves it and is doing great. Is your puppy little or just a picky eater? |
They have it at Petsmart... and you can order online at Petsmart.com |
You can also look for Nutri-Stat. When we got Rocky, our breeder gave us a puppy kit that included several different toys, samples of Bil Jac treats and most importantly, Nutri-Stat. If Rocky is playing hard, I just put a dab on my finger and wipe it on his tongue. Our vet said that Mutri-Stat is a great product and (in my experience) is easy to find at any pet store! Good luck! |
You can save yourself some money and just get the Karo syrup for an emergency. I wonder why so many breeders say to get the nutrical? I have a very small puppy and she has never needed it. I hear of so many people just giving it for a supplement? I hope one of the breeders will come on to say what the benefit is to giving the nutrical to a puppy that is fine and not hypogycemic. |
I agree that kayro will do the same thing, but Nutrical is just so much easier, especially when traveling. Plus Nutrical has some vitamin content which Kayro does not. At any rate, I think the important thing is to be sure the tiny little babies have enough blood sugar which both will accomplish |
I also heard that honey nut Cheerios work. Has anyone else heard this?? What is the Karo syrup? |
My vet also told my Karo syrup if you're in a pinch. |
I think I've heard that the Nutrical that you get from the vet and the one you can buy at the petstore are two different "qualities". Supposedly the one from the vet is stronger. Any truth to that?? |
Not Sure.... I'm not sure if there is adiffence between what you get from the vet and what you get from the store....but I have only gotten it from my vet so far...and for $10....I think it is pretty competitively priced compared to the store (in reality it is actually saving me tons...lol...cause a run to the pet store turns into a $100 event every time...which I don't have...lol)...so I would just pick it up from your vet...I bought a tubs a month ago....and I push out a little drop and let Maximus lick it...(he thinks its a treat...go figure) and it will last a long time...because they don't get much |
