Hi All - I have a Yorkie named Betty...born 10/16/06...so she is almost 4 months old. Since she is my first, I am not sure what to expect. I have so many questions! My first one is this...She was first weighed at the Vet on January 9th (she was 12 weeks old at the time) ane weighed 2 lb 4 oz. She went back to the Vet three weeks later and weighed 4 lb!! Is that normal? She does not eat a lot and I don't give her people food. She eats Royal Canin 33. The breeder estimated that she would be 4 1/2-5 lbs full-grown. At the rate she is growing now, that seems highly unlikely! I think she is 1/2 Rottweiler and they forgot to mention it! LOL Thanks for any info.

Some yorkies have growing spurts......grow very fast and then stop. The only thing about this breed that you can truely depend on is they'll make a liar out of you every time.

Hi and welcome to YT great to have you here! It does sound like she will be a bigger yorkie YT has a lot of beautiful larger yorkies. I just wanted to welcome you

it has a puppy growth chart.
so many breeders promise a certain size and you can not go by that. they grow as they need to, just like humans.
my yorkie, Ahia, had 4 puppies and I thought 2 of them were going to be bigger as adults. when I sold them I told the new owners I didn't expect them to stay small. but they have. even a 10 lber to me is not big in any way.

Piper came to us weighing 1lb 3oz at 14 weeks. Breeder said she would be under 5 lbs. Last time she got weighted was a few months ago, so I know she is over 7 lbs at almost 11 months. I call her my Moose.

LOL!! First of all welcome to YT. There is so much information here and some very knowledgable people.
Your baby is very sweet. Right now is when she will gain most of her weight. Bella gained over a pound in that time and then slowed down. Remember a breeder can only guesstimate a pups adult weight, by looking at the weight of the parents. They can never be sure. She will be a little bigger than 4-5lbs fully grown, I'm sure. There is no way to predict. She is a doll what ever weight she is:p

What a tiny adorable pup! Sometimes I wish my pup was a baby, I acquired mine about 2.5 years ago and now she is approaching 14 years of age. I found this site not too long ago, and as far as its informative side, it has educated me and helped me greatly - my old pup is my first yorkie as well, I had much to learn about this particular breed to better take care of my old pup. It is a wonderful place to get information,advice from fellow yorkie friends!

Hi and welcome to Y/T. There is a past thread that talks about puppy weights. If you will go to the search and type in How much did your puppy weigh? It should bring up the page with this thread. I'm still learning to navigate on here and I don't know how to bring it up on this post. Anyway I think it will be very helpful and definately shows how differant growth rates are. Good Luck
