Remember The Yorkie With A Very Dark Face? 4 Attachment(s) Hi, Just want to give you guys an update on Bella. She is 7 months, her hair is getting long and yet the color of her face doesn't change at all. Just want to show you guys how she looks and how dark her face is. But don't get me wrong, I am beginning to like her color, I hope it would not change that much.At what age does the yorkie starts to change their color? Any guess on what color she would be :when she becomes adult. I tried to read articles on how would you know from their puppy coat, what color would they be when they becomes adult, but I could not undestand them at all. |

I am not sure about when her coloring will or would change. I just wanted to say her coloring is beautiful. I love the ring around her nose. |
i think her colours are beautiful. my next yorki will be dark coloured.\\\ |
She is sure pretty. Rock didn't get his full adult color until he was 1 1/2 yrs. It looks like she has gold "roots" coming in around her face and head. It's hard to tell when they have black tips from their puppy hair. I think that she's going to change alot in the next 6-12 months. |
1 Attachment(s) Hi Molly I dont remember your dark face girl, I missed your post. I have one similair. This is my Cassie. She will be 6 in May of this year. I have provided a picture of her. See the black strip up her nose, and she also has black stripes on her ears, and on her beard. Her coat/hair is extremely heavy. She is black, very black on her saddle. She is a wooly coat. The black stripes are cut short in this picture on her face but if left to grow, they would look alot like your girls markings. Except your girls ears stand upright, Cassies stand half mast, and I like it that way. This isnt a good picture of Cassie at all, she doesnt like being photographed ONE BIT, but she is a completely wonderful yorkie. Healthy sweet calm. SHe isnt standard but she is exceptional. |
She Is Beautiful!!! I want her!!! She is beautiful!! I love the dark face!!! I am not sure her color will change now. If she were mine, I would be praying that it didnt. I just think she is georgeous!!! |
My Zada is blond but my Azrael is dark but darling. Since I have both, I have decided the dark ones are my favorite color. Just love to have another, but am afraid it would end up light. :) |
She has the most beautiful little face. I love the dark coloring, I think it makes her unique. |
She is really beautiful! I think she's great just the way she is :) |

Cassie is so cute, she reminds me of my other yorkie Ginger, she almost 2 years old and she still has black strips. Attached is her picture with my other baby (Maltese) Lacey. |
She is a CUTIE!! |
I think all of the photos posted are gorgeous. But then, if they had green hair, I'd still think that. My precious Chester was silver/gold, Chloe is mostly black/silver and Darla is a mix of black/brown/silver. I love them all:p |
I love the dark color! She looks like a little bear :) |
I think she is Beautiful!!! |
I LOve her dark coloring, Shes beautiful. |

you little girl is darling and she has lightened up. Some yorkies faces never complete clear. By that I mean some never lighten up and grow their dark hair out. That is often why show breeders hold on to pups and then wind up selling them a little later, between say 6 months and 1 year it's because they are waiting and hoping the face turns a golden blond. If you have a lot of dark strands on the head they will often refer to it as a sooty head. If most of the roots are lighter that is a good indication that the face and head will clear. Colors can often vary, some yorkies face and head will even turn a white platinum blond or more reddish blond. Some people have a preference but to show your dogs head and face needs to be free of any dark strands, but since very few of us show then who cares, best to have a happy healthy pup. |
I agree /her coloring is beautiful and so is she |
I LOVE her!!! |
She is absolutely beautiful! |
I agree, she is Beautiful ! but do you realize this thread is from 2007 ? |

LOL no I did not but good catch:D |
She is a lovely little darling for sure! I don't remember exactly how old Gracie was when she started to show lighter roots but she was still a pup I'm sure. Maybe 6 months or there about. Bella doesn't show any sign of her face changing color from the look of your pictures. I don't think I would want her to change a bit if I were you either. She is beautiful! |
Hungary Yorkies the pics I've seen of yorkies from Hunguary are all very dark colored. even the champions |
She is very cute. I have seen some dark ones, and her coat 'may' stay darker, but their coat can take up to 3 or so years to mature. I know Brody's coat changed for several years. His face was very light platinum blond, then you could see darker golden tan coming in, then, where his hair behind his nose was very light, got darker again. You may need to wait a while to see what colors she will end up being, but whatever...she will always be a little doll! :D |
