New Puppy Pics!
 

I don't have too many pictures yet of the new little one, but I love the couple that I do! She's two weeks old as of tomorrow. I'm not sure if I should pick this baby, though, or if I should wait for the next litter. The breeder has two other mommas that are pregnant. One mom is about five pounds and the other is about 3 - 4 pounds. Now, I usually wouldn't care what the size of the puppies are, but since my baby I have now is only 2 pounds, I want to get her a playmate that will be around that size. I feel really bad for saying I want a small one, because I have seen so many other babies that are larger that are just as precious. In fact, sometimes I wish Maizee were larger. I just want a baby around her size, because she has NO puppies around my area her size. . I think this baby should be relatively small, so I think she would be a great playmate. The breeder said that she would hold on to this baby for me in the off chance the other puppies are not what I wanted, but I have a feeling that by the time this puppy is of age to go, I won't care anymore. I'll just want my new baby! Maybe size won't make a difference. Any thoughts?

I have two yorkies and one is five pounds and the other is seven and a half. They seem to do fine together. I know I have seen other owners on here that have various sizes. I know there are owners that have yorkies and another large breed. I would go with your :love: But that is just my thought:)

the only thought that comes to mind is "if you don't take her, I will!!" haha. I can't resist these puppies!!!!!! I wouldn't know how to have one that was only 2 lbs full grown. maggie is 3.7 now at 4 months and she is so little to me :) to think of one nearly half her size as an adult just blows my mind :)

but I will say this...yes...a 10 lb yorkie compared to a 2 lb yorkie would be a huge difference. but i know of a 7 lb yorkie that I could have sworn she was no more than 3 or 4 lbs. when I found out she was 7 lbs I was blown away. she was so tiny. so if you get one that is 5 lbs or so full grown, I really don't think it will make that big of a difference. I think they will be able to play together great and I wouldn't worry too much. With that being said...I think you should go with your heart. If you can bond with this puppy, then she is the one for you :) Just follow your heart and I am confident that everything will be just fine.

A breeder that breeds three litters at a time sounds suspicious to me, as though possibly they're only in it for the money. Does the breeder do health testing?

I agree, go with your heart. Don't settle!

You have one small one, so hopefully the next one will serve you just as well as the one you have. Be careful in your selection and make sure the tiny babies are healthy. Good luck!

Remember that a small pup at birth dosent promise a small dog...you cant be guarenteed of a size unfortunately. Reece is 4 pounds and his parents were both closer to 7 pounds...Darla is 5 pounds and her Dad was 4 and mom was 8 pounds...so go figure...

No advice but. I have those curtains in my dogs bedroom LOL...

WHen Looking at the puppies I have noticed you can sort of tell by the face structure who is going to be a little more dainty.. I did not heed this with ritz but he had a smaller facial look about him but was the biggest int he litter. He ended up being only 2 1/2 lbs...1.3 at 8 weeks

My Buddah is only 2lbs right now and we take him to play with my boyfriends dog Buster (mini schnauzer) who is 20lbs. Buddah wasnt even scared and even chased Buster around! I think Buster understood he is litte and cannot play too rough.

I don't have a Yorkie-yet- but do have 6 lb and 7 lb toy poodles along with a 150 lb Mastiff. The Mastiff was "raised" by the poodles, and is so gentle and careful with them, that I do not worry at all about playing too hard. Our Mastiff plays tug of war with the poodles. It is hilarious and heartwarming all in one. She lays down and holds the rope in her mouth while the poodles shake and pull on the rope. When the Mastiff is sleeping (always on the couch) the poodles lay on top of her or curled up against her side. She always waits for them to get down before she moves. So, in my opinion, even if your new puppy gets bigger, if he/she is taught to be careful, it should be ok!

Actually, I took Maizee with me to go look at the new puppy and she hung out with the breeder's bullmastiff the whole time! He babied all of the puppies and momma's. It was so cute! Maizee was almost scared of the other dogs, but not the huge one. She's just really picky. She either wants a huge playmate, or one exactly her size. . .

She does give written health agreements. I got my first puppy from her and I was quite pleased. Maizee has Alopecia, which the breeder didn't really have much control over, but she handled the situation VERY well and everything worked out perfectly. I almost like them without hair more! I don't really see the harm in having three litters at the same time. She only breeds the mothers every year and a half. She does three during the winter months and I think three during the spring months, for a total of about 6 mommies. That is a lot of mommies, but you don't understand. This woman lives and breathes dogs; she has SO many different breeds of dogs and even rescues overbred mothers from puppy mills and other dogs from the kill shelters. She even built another heated/air conditioned house just for her doggies. I feel very secure in buying another baby from her. And since this is what she does for a living, she probably doesn't mind the money, but she has given full-blooded, great lined puppies to children who couldn't afford babies (for FREE!!) as long as they are going to good homes. I had to have references to buy her babies to let her know if I could take care of her as well as a sheet explaining how much I work per week (for time with the puppy as well as financial status), as well as a list explaining how much time and money I planned on giving to the puppy. She really is awesome! :)

I think I may get this little baby just because I don't want to wait! But, I want to make sure she's perfect for Maizee and I first.
