hairs in ears How many of you pluck the hairs out from their ears yourself? I know when you take them to the groomers they usually do it to when bathing them and stuff but I was just wondering if any of you do it yourself. ALso how often and how do you do it! I'm never sure which hairs to pluck and which ones to leave alone. |
:( I'm scared to do it...I wanted to cry when I tried to do it, felt bad for Maximus :( ....so now I clean the ears...and wait till get to the vet and ask him to do it...I know I know....I'm a wuss. I think you are supposed to clean your dogs ears every couple of days and if you notice any strays after they have been throuoghly plucked(you, vet or groomer)..you are supposed to take them out...but like me I am at the vet every week worrying over something (can you say neurotic)..so Maximus ears are hair free...lol |
Nothing to it! They don't have much feeling in the ears. Snoodles can be CUJO when I brush her, but she readily lets me pluck the hairs. I use a eyebrow plucker, and you pluck all the hair inside the canal and on the underside of the ear. If there is a lot and this is her first time, do a little every day. I usually do it once a month! Hopes this helps! Pat |

Do you live anywhere close to Butte, Montana? Wouldn't mind a bit! Pat |
I pluck my yorkies ears every weekend after the bath. Sometimes there is hardly anything to pluck and other times there is more. I usually pluck the hair that is in the middle of the inside of their ear and it usually is bunched together. So I get the tweezers and pull it out then gently clean the ear with a Q-tip. I was very scared at 1st and was so worried it would hurt them but they stand there very still, I think it relaxes them to have me touching their ears? |
I don't think Ruby's previous Mommy gave much attention to her ears, nails, eye boogers, etc. because she doesn't like me touch them. She thinks I'm asking for a play bite on my hand when I mess with these parts. |
I hear you on that...Maximus cannot..willnot and refuses to keep his head still whether it is to be brushed or to get his ears cleaned...and as soon as birdy moves to NY I will hire her to take the hair out of the ears...until then it is my vet..who does it so non-chalantly and has Maximus still as a statue |
