Sleeps ALOT!. I live in toronto and now that snow has hit us and low temperatures. we still take him out once in a while. but this passed days and just this weekend i noticed that he sleeps alot. and for along time as well. Is this normal for dogs to do this during winter time or they just depress as humans are since we can't go out as much? thanx. |
How old is your dog? My girls take their nap in the morning for about an hour. They get up at 6am. Afternoon they sleep from 1 until 4. We go to bed at 9pm. They seem to sleep more when it's cold out. |
How old is your dog and when you say sleeps alot, how long is alot? Does it play in between naps or just lay around all day? |
Mine definitely sleep more in the winter |
I've noticed that my two have been wanting to sleep more as well, since it's a little colder here. As long as your little one is playful between naps and is eating well, I think it's fairly normal. Need more info though, how old is your dog, how big, good eater? |
well this is layla's first winter.. so i coudln't tell you if she sleeps more than in the summer.. but she is 10 months... she is awake usually around 9 am (unless i have class earlier) and if we are home for the day.. she plays till around noon.. then is usually in and out of sleep until around 5 pm.. if she spends the day with my mom.. she is usually awake or taking a cat nap... and will sleep from around 3pm when i come get her... till around 7ish.. then she is WIDE awake all night... she is currently running around the house with a ball and she will be awake now until around 9... going full tilt!!! with layla ... if you let her sleep.. she will... otherwise she is content to do whatever you are doing. |

his weight is normal as far as the vet said. i don't know exactly. yeah his a good eater. so yeah i guess is normal. cause i slept alot this weekend as well . lol |
I think Emma sleeps more now that it's winter too. It could be her age-she's now 10 months-but I think the cold weather makes everyone a little more sluggish. Also, since it gets dark earlier than in the spring/summer, it throws everyones' internal clocks off, with more sleeping time and less awake time. Thank heaven winter's half over! |
Since this is my first winter with Izzy, Im not sure. It could be the cold. I want to sleep more myself. I think as long as he's eating and plays in between naps, he should be fine. The breeder named him Sleepy...so if he sleeps alot, its normal to me. Hes kind of a bum:p He will lay around all day if I let him....just look at my avatar. Right now he's asleep in my lap...what a lazy lima bean!:D |
