I need your support - I've been putting this off So Brodie has all 4 baby canines that never fell out. I NEED to make an appointment to have them removed, but I'm sooo scared !!! He's so little. But his breath is HORRIBLE. Just aweful. It has to be those teeth. I don't want to have him put out :( I'm coming up with every excuse in the book. I'm just looking for some suport :) |
The best reason TO make the appointment is that Brodie will be a healthier happier Yorkie with the extra teeth out. Sending hugs :ghug: |

Had 3 of Boos teeth pulled. The vet said they would not come out on their own. I have see yorkies with this problem and it got worse as they got older. It would be best to do it. |
Sibelle , one of my little rescued one had to have all her teeth pulled out due to the negligence of her previous owner . I was very worried , Sibelle is ok now . |
Oh, I had the same problem with TJ. He had double 'fangs' His 'fang' teeth - 2 ontop and 2 on the bottom - would not come out on their own. I waited until he was 1 year old and then it was time! Of all the teeth to remain??? Anyway, he did fine. I think his weight was about 4lbs. (back then  ) ...Oh and the Vet game me back those 'fangs'   I couldn't beleive the root on those suckers    |
I know how you feel about the bad breath. Reese had one that never fell out and i thought I was going to have to do the same thing until the other day he pulled on his ball playing with my son and it came out. Scared my son to death. We have to know if it smells bad infection could set up and become an even worse problem with it being so close to the brain. Best to go ahead and when they are young and stronger.:) |

Bentley my yorkie poo has one baby tooth that will need to be removed sometime soon. His other one's were really stubborn but they did come out. My vet told me at 7 months to keep waiting for them to fall out. How old is your pup? |
Yeah, TJ had stinky breath - mostly b/c he ate poop  I was just worried about "those particular teeth" constantly rubbing against each other and making the situation worse. |
Little Bit is 4# and has 6 teeth pulled when she was spayed & did great. :) I have to say, I was scared too but it went great. |
[QUOTE=TLC;912106]Yeah, TJ had stinky breath - mostly b/c he ate poop  LOL :yelrotflm |
Joey was 3.5 lbs when he had all four of his "fangs" pulled. I was scared too, but he did just fine. |
It is very frightening for us, but little Brodie will be fine! Toto was 8 months because we had to wait for her to weigh 2 lbs., our vet wanted to be sure all the permanent teeth were through because she had lots of baby teeth to remove and she wanted to do teeth/spay at the same time. We totally trusted her and that's a big help too. Toto did great but I was traumatized for several days!! ;) |
i am having the same issue with bella...she had two bottom canines stilll in .....just a few weeks ago the other fell out, but there is still one stubborn one.....she is almost 10 months....and i am just praying that is falls out..... |
Cali retained almost all of her baby teeth. At 14 months the vet was able to pull 4 while she was awake as they were so loose and 1 front one pulled out when we were playing at 16 months of age and one I wiggled out last week at 19 months. All of her fang are still in and some back molars but like you I am just too afraid even though I know it needs to be done. |
i assure you there is nothing to worry about as long as you've discussed it with your vet and you trust them to do surgery on a small dog. When morgan was fixed she had 6 teeth pulled front and back with no problem at all. If its just a teeth pulling they really don't even have to induce them with anesthesia. The vet can just gas them down, pull the teeth, and then wake them up. Simple and finished in 10-15 minutes total. Try not to worry so much. some things just need to be done, its better if you do it on your terms now then on the angry infected tooth's terms later LOL |
Both of mine had to have 4 removed. They did fine and I am sure your Brodie will too. Chachis breath also smelled when he had the retained teeth |

Sometimes you just have to put your trust in your vet - I'm sure your baby will be just fine! I was a total boob when Oscar and Ruthie went in for their spay/neuters, but they came through just fine. Oscar weighed 2.8lbs for his neuter and had 14 teeth pulled - Ruthie weighed 2lbs and had 12 teeth pulled. I'm sure he'll feel much better having those extra teeth removed! |

Has Brodie been neutered yet? This would be a good time to get this all done. My Carson had 3 teeth pulled and was neutered at almost a year old and he was 4.1 he did fine but I still was a nervous wreck. |
Thanks everyone :) As far as neutering....no, I use him for stud as I've just started my breeding program last year. I trust my vet. But you know how it is.......................he's my baby boy!!!:p |
Breny you know how I worry. When Daisy was spayed at 6 months she was like 3#'s I think and she did no problem at all. My mom took me to pick her up because I was crying and Daisy was back to herself the next day. Brodie will be fine. I did it on a Thursday so I can stay home with her for the weekend. Did the vet say its his teeth making his breath so horrible? |
fear of having these little ones anesthesized :) Hi everyone. All I can is that fear was with me the first time I had my tiny 3 lb. female spayed. Teeth cleaned at the same time. My heart was in my throat, and the vet did a wonderful job sitting down and explaining about the new anesthestics and how very safe it is on these tiny ones...I was totally amazed when I picked her up...not groggy at all. :animal-pa That fear is in all of us with these tiny babies. sadielyn |
Cricket goes in tomorrow to have her top puppy canines removed. She's a little over 3.5 lbs. It's a bit scary but I need to get them out before they mess up her bite as I want to show her come spring. These little ones usually retain their canines so I'd guess the vet is used to pulling them by now. I'll be praying for her anyway! |
