What do you do? What do you do during the day when you are at work and can't be with your Yorkie? During the summer I will be with Daisy as mmuch as I can. But when school strats again in the fall, I will be there for seven hours 5 days of the week. What will I do with my baby? I'm thinking about getting her a pen, and putting it in the kitchen, leaving her water and food inside it, and a puppy pad. And during lunch I'll run by, or my mother, or my grandmother (it's going to be a family dog) and make sure she has enough food, and take her out for about ten minutes, then go back to school, with her safely in her pen. What do you think? Do you have any suggestions on what I should do? |
I have my lil girl in a cage for the day. but I'm on my lunch I run home play with her for 10 mins and let her out. It sucks putting her back in but its better for her in the long run. It'll be hard I know |
I have a big puppy pen , they have lots of toys , food , water and wee pads . |
We are very lucky that my husband works mostly from home and can be with Lillie most of the day. I only work 10 minutes from home, so on days when he is not home, I run home and check on her at lunch. |
Daisy's Mama, Sounds like you are heading in the right direction. I purchased Maggie an exercise pen at Petsmart. It's big enough for play, toys, naps, food, water and a wee pad. It give them their own space while saving them from any dangers in the house. Good Luck and have a great summer with Daisy. |
Lily has a stay at home mom. It does suck on the rare occassion that I go somewhere though. |
Well, I Get home from work around 8AM and when I get home I feed my darlings and then go to sleep till about 4PM, My Boyfriend is here so he takes care of them While i'm sleeping. Then When I wake up I usually go on YT :D and of course i play with my doggies.. and then i usually do anything spontaneous. then thats about it.. then i go get ready for work at 10PM and head to work at 10:50PM.. :) |
Sorry.... I get up at 5 AM. Lily gets up then, too. We bond while i prepare for work, and I leave by 6AM. She plays with dad until 7 AM, and then is alone by herself until 5 pm when he gets home. As I work 12 hour days usually, I have to believe its the best I can do. I understand your predicament, believe me, but you will get used to it! Good luck. |
Cosmo stays in his kennel. The longest he is in there is about 3 hours or less. I play with him til I got to work at 11 then my boyfriend stays with him until he goes to work at 2 then he goes in his kennel. My lunch is from 3 to 4 so I play with him then. Then my boyfriends lunch it at 6 to 7 then he goes back in the kennel until I get off at 8 so it is not that bad. |
I leave Missy and Max in my bedroom when I am at work, they play and sleep in my bedroom and I leave their water and food in an area outside my master bathrooom. I puppy proofed my room ;) so it works out really well. I even leave the tv on for them with the volume low :D |
When Jerry's mommy isn't home with him during the day. He actually has free reign of the house, but he usually sits on top of the bed and looks outside. I love pulling in the driveway though and see that cute little face pop up and when I come in the door...the first place he heads is to one of his potty pads....I think he waits because he doesnt want to mis out on his liver :) Michael |
I go to school 5 days a week, but my yorkies have their own room. My kids are grown and gone so my yorkies have taken their place (somewhat). I have a couple of kennels in the yorkie room where I keep trouble makers. Yorkies are like little pack dogs and there is alpha dog. My oldest female is the alpha. She will start trouble with one of my yorkies from an outside lineage and her two daughters (2 yr olds) will join in to torment. They start off playing and it turns into fighting, just like children. They behave when I'm standing there. Their room has been yorkie proofed. I use pads on the floor and I put pads in the kennels. They are loved on in the mornings before I leave ( I wake up at 4 a.m.) and when I get back home. The good thing is knowing their personalities and not leaving anything for them to chew on while you're not at home. |
I work Monday through Friday 8-5. I put Cordelia in her crate all day except during lunch I come home and let her eat and go potty. Then I put her back into the crate until I come home from work at 5:00pm. |
...I leave for work at 7:30 am. So Comet stays in his playpen until about 12:30 when his dogwalker stops by to walk him and play with him for about a half hour. When Comet is 9 months I will feel comfortable leaving him home all day until 4pm when I get home from work. I think that it is easier to leave them for long days when they get older. However, if the dog is still pretty young, it would be nice to come for lunch or have a dog walker. |
Hi I just wanted to see how the puppy is since I knew you were bringing her home...keep us posted on the little one....hope the vet gave you some good advice |
