Worlds largest Yorkie I think I have her :D Allie had a VERY eventful day today. First she went to the pet salon and got her first cut. She has a massive amount of hair for a 14 week old baby. I got her a schnauser cut. She looks darlin'! The brim of her nose is shaved a bit too close for me. They know better next time ;) Then we went to the doctor for another dose of shots. She weighs a whooping 6 pounds! Any of you ever have a 14 week old weigh that? She really doesn't look that big to me, so for you all with 2 and 3 pounders BRAVO I'd need some heavy nerve medication if she were any smaller. The vet assistant said "she is quite a big girl, maybe she is a silky?" I seen both of her parents and they are both yorkies. Mom was 7 1/2 pounds dad 6 1/2...What do u guys think? Oh and my vet says science diet is the best without going to prescription foods:confused: |
Oh my goodness! That's a big yorkie! Mine's 8 months old and roughly 8 lbs... |
She is just gonna be a bigger yorkie. There are alot of bigger yorkies. My groomer asked me if My Chachi was really a silky too because of his size. Vets get kick backs for promoting Science Diet. It is one of the worst foods there is and rates real low in comparrison to other foods |
If you trust your breeder and they are definitely Allie's parents, it just could be she's a bigger Yorkies than normal. Just like there are tiny Yorkies from regular sized Yorkie parents, there are bigger Yorkies as well. Just more to love! :) Also, some Yorkies grow faster than average too, but the growth may slow down faster too. So it all just depends. I'm sure you'll love her the same no matter what! |

Abbie weighed about that at that age--She's now 2 years old and is 14 pounds of love :luv: . Max was 6 lbs at 16 weeks but he didn't grow as big as Abbie--he's 11 lbs. And they are both yorkies-not mixes or silkies-just teapot yorkies ;) . There are a lot of larger yorkies here. In fact, I didn't realize that there were many yorkies that large until I came here. |
When I got Abigail at 7 weeks she was 3 pds which is bigger than most yorkies are at that age. She is now 9 pds and she doesn't look that big. I love her all the same. Her parents were smaller than that alot of people will ask me if she is a silky too. I can't remember. Most people think the bigger the better. I have another one that is only 3.5 pds and you have to be so careful when they are that small. |

Congratulations on your baby girl. My Buddy weighed in at 6.5 at 14 1/2wks when I bought him. Today he is 13.5lbs. He will be three next Sat. He is a wonderful size for me and I still think he is small, however, not even close to standard. Enjoy your baby and I look forward to seeing pictures. Carol & Buddy |
that is quite big! But I'm sure she's just got more of her to love. I wouldn't mind a bigger yorkie. I would never feed my dog science diet, but that's JMO. Whether vets get kickbacks or not, the food just isn't good. |

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Teapot boy(16 lbs)! SO much fun! sounds like you might get lucky like I did... hehe I have the best of both worlds tho, Hopey is only 4lbs 12 ozs... d |
My Tucker that I had before the rest of the crew was from champion lines and had the pedigree saw the parents, but he got to be 10 pounds...his parents were 6 & 7...but I loved him just as I would a 3 pound, better cause I didn't have to worry about him getting step on or jumping and hurting himself.... |
When I got Topher he was 16 weeks old and well over 6 lbs. He turned a year old last October and now he probably weighs around 11 or so. He hasn't been weighed since his last vet appointment in the fall so I'm not really sure. He's such a snuggle bug mommy's boy.....he's just so wonderful to cuddle up to. He's still small to me, though, even though he's considered a 'bigger' yorkie. |

you know, I saw a friend of mine who has a yorkie that I would always visit while looking for one for myself. I have never asked how much she weighed because it didn't really cross my mind for some reason. but I have always thought she was soooooo tiny. i would have guessed 4 lbs at the most. i went to take maggie to see her yesterday and her pup weighs 7 lbs. still not huge by any means but my point is that these little guys hide their weight well :) I am sure your baby will be precious no matter how big :) and I agree...I would steer clear of science diet. i have read many bad reviews. JMO but I would go to petsmart and look at all the different foods and read the ingredients. or look at some past threads on here about dog foods and use that advice. it has been great advice for me...being a new yorkie owner :) |
