Computing the Actual Age I have seen two different ways for computing the actual age of a puppy. Some do it by calender months (22 Jan to 22 March = 3 months) and others do it by 7 days in a week, 4 weeks = one month. The reason I want to find out what the correct method is because I want to try to determine how big my female will be (3 months x her weight). She was born 22 Oct 06. Thanks for help! Candini |
From what I have read being born on Oct 22nd that was a Sunday. I would count Sundays. So Jan 21st she was 13 weeks. Double her weight & add a pound. I have heard you usually do this at 12 weeks. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Piper was 1.2 lbs at 13 weeks. So she shouldn't have been over 3 lbs. She weighs 6.6 last time I took her in. I'd go by the weight of the parents and guestimate. Piper is real close to her parents size, even though she was the runt. |
