YorkieDaze. I'm with you on the puppymills etc. I donate quite a bit to Puppymillrescue.com. This is what I said in my earlier post. I've struggled with it because it's against everything I believe in "Brokers, Petstores, Etc." As I stated too buying him makes me feel like a hypocrite. And, I know they all claim the same but in many many conversations with this particular woman she's claimed that the pups do not come from puppymills but rather a private breeder. I can't say either way whether it's true or not true and this is what bothers me. As adorable as he is it is bothering me that I cannot confirm that he was not from a puppymill. IN NO WAY do I want to support a puppymill. My three Yorkies are rescues and my Tia was bought from a classified ad from a woman that bought her from Topnotch but decided not to keep her. Elaine |
I know it's just a picture and it's hard to tell but his head looks too big for his body. I'm sure it's the short legs. The standard calls for a well balanced dog, akc judges like to see them square. If you really want a yorkie that holds up to the standard, I'm not sure he's the best choice. If you want a cute little love bug, follow your heart! P.S. One thing about the super short legs, he's almost in floor length coat already! |
he is very cute. however i wouldn't get him from topnotch. WHen i was first looking for a yorkie in the area i came across that place too and quickly decided against it. I found a great breeder with gorgeous pups and bought from her. I also searched the breeders on at www.ytca.org. |
The woman imports them from Brazil so you don't know what their living conditions were down there. One of my neighbors got hers there. She's a sweet little girl and very friendly but at almost a year, her coat isn't very nice. Someone on my mail route had one and he was a big boy but very friendly also. I've seen several at the local Petsmart too. I used to deliver the mail and one time had to take a package to their original location. I didn't realize what it was at first but saw some puppies in the yard. The owner of the business wasn't there but her cousin was and when she told me the puppies came from Brazil, I asked if this was Topknotch. It's out in the country where there are hawks and I warned the cousin about that. She had no idea that a puppy could be taken by a bird of prey. |

I'm no judge, to me he looks ADORABLE! :D |
He is very cute. If he is almost 3 lbs at 14 weeks he maygo oversize but it's hard to tell. When I have any reservations, I usually shy away especially if it goes against your gut with mayne being a puppymill. JMO |
puppy There are many Brazilian brokers here in south Florida...a bad situtation to say the least...some of these puppies come from worse conditons then our own puppymills if that is possible. He will be terrier in his muzzle..if you want a more refined look, he will not be that..most of the Brazilian dogs I see here are soft coated..you say you want a dog of quality, then it is vital to see the line, not just one puppy. There are many nice pups for sale in the US and you can meet the breeder, see the parents, kennel etc...think twice...good luck |
I'm no judge either but he is adorable!! |
I have to agree with Yorkie Rose.. very well said. |
OMG!!!!! he is soooooo...cute. his head is a little bigger than his body(at least thats how it looks like in the picture) but uniqueness is good. he is soooo cute!!!! :D :D |
jrsygal37 there are puppymills in every country, and NO puppymill is "better" than other just b/c it's in another City, State, or Country! I think w/ all my heart you should buy your new furkid from a breeder which you can see the pups parents personally... but that's just me...;) Another YT member asked me about a breeder from here, and I called to the kennel and talked briefly to the breeder and set a day to go check on the place and dog's for her... Hope I have good news... :) :) Good luck!! Katiuscia & Maggie:littleang |
He certainly wins on cuteness. It kinda sounds like you have already fallen for this cutie. I think once you go and see the puppy you form a small bond already, at least that is how it works for me. Now it is a head over heart or heart over head decision. Good Luck! |
I personally think he's absolutely beautiful! I LOVE darker, richly colored coats, that look thick and plush, I also adore a short babydoll face and short legs. His legs are a little short, but he'll probally grow into them and they may not be as short as they seem. He's a real cutie pie:p I think I've spoken to the topNotch people before but I'm not sure, what's their website? |
Well, Ford was sold. I'm happy in a way because it took the decision away from me. I was having a hard time walking away from him but at the same time I really do not feel comfortable not knowing where he came from. As I said, I have three rescues and I know the deplorable conditions they came out of and I do not and will not be part of buying from anywhere that may have ties to a puppymill. I'm not saying this is the case as I really do not know for sure but at the same time ignorance is no excuse and if I don't have solid proof that these pups are not from a puppymill then it's against my belief to buy. I appreciate everyone's oppionions. I really was very tempted but even if he was not sold I do not think I would have done it, as tempting as it was. I've spent a good part of my life fighting against puppymills etc. and it was just against my gut to go through with it. Elaine. |
