Stolen yorkie in PA I was just watching the news (NBC 10 for those that are in the Philadelphia region) and they did a story on a woman who walked into a pet shop, slid a 2 pound yorkie out of his cage, put him in her purse and walked out of the store. The pet store owner was on the news saying that he wouldn't get bigger than 4 pounds. This is so sad on so many levels. First, it always makes me sad to know that there are yorkies in pet stores. Second, the owner of the pet store was charging $2,000 for him and seemed proud of his teeny tiny size. Third, I'm sure the person who stole the puppy is only looking to make money off of him and doesn't understand the first thing about keeping them warm and cozy in the cold and Nutri-cal and low blood sugar. Let's all pray for this little guy that he ends up in safe, loving arms!! |
Oh, I should add that the woman in the surveillance camera on the news that stole the yorkie was heavy set, wearing a bright red winter ski-type jacket and had short, dark hair. Just in case someone recognizes the thief... |
ugh! This is so sad on so many levels like you said. I am about an hour south of Philly. I always take my 2 down with me to the bus and I often wonder when people look at me if I shouldn't have them with me. <sigh> |

If she stole this puppy for herself, then she can't afford to raise it. Poor little munch. I hope they find that puppy safe and sound. |
On TV they said the dog was young (5 months) and two pounds and needed special care. It's wrong to steal but maybe this woman will know how to care for this little dog. I hope he's better off with her than in the pet shop. http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?se...cal&id=4959826 |

I am going to choose to believe that it was some wild anti puppy mill activist who has lost hope and decided the only way to save any of the puppies is to steal them. I know I'm crazy but things have been so depressing at work lately that I have to hold out some hope that there are good and caring, though misguided, people left in the world. |
I saw that story on the news last night. IMO, pet store owner (or whoever the blonde they were interviewing) seemed to be more worried about the lost money than the puppy's will-being. |
My husband and I saw it on the news last night too. I'm with "stewartdogs", I'm hoping she was taking a stand against petshop puppies/puppy mills and she'll give it a good home. I'm not sure if she'll be able to hide her identity considering she was all over the news. She better buy a new coat and color her hair though. I still can't get over the sale price of $2000! |
Many times here, when somones pic is on the news, someone else recognizes them and they get caught. I'm also willing to belive that someone took the pup, being they are a pet store and "sell" yorkies. Sad though, hate to hear of anyone stealing a yorkie. Really ticks me off. |
How sad!!! I was with a girl from school one day and we were walking around the pet store. We were looking at the parakeets and when we left the store and got in the car, she showed me she had shoved one up her sleeve!!! |
This is so sad, and all I have to say is, I hope this woman really takes care of this pup and loves him, but I hope she gets caught. |
It is sad for so many reasons, like you guys have already said. The other sad thing is that this pet store that sells puppies is now getting all kinds of publicity out of it. I despise pet stores. :mad: |
Personally, I hope that it is NOT an animal activist - it is activities like these that give them a bad name. Many people think that activists are crazy, neurotic and are the "type" to break the law for their cause. I would hate for this woman to perpetuate this myth. Having said that, I sure hope that she takes good care of the puppy. |
