Absolutely horrible! I would take that dog into the vet's office and let everyone in there see what the vet did to your baby! That usually gets there attention real fast. If they say the vet will see you, tell them you are not paying him a penny for his abuse! That dog should never have come home like that! I feel for you and of course, for the poor little thing! GOOD LUCK! Pat |
Poor baby. :( Breaks my heart. I hope those baths keep helping him. I hope Scruffy's mama gets to court with the other two burned dogs and gets that guy shut down. So awful. |
Oh my gosh, I am so sorry to hear that story. Duke and I will keep Lorna and Scruffy in our prayers, and we wish Scruffy a speedy recovery. I hope that Lorna is able to put that clinic out of business. She should think about contacting her local news station, and seeing if they will run a story about Scruffy's experience, so that everyone will know what that vet did to him. I live in the Bay Area of Northern California, and we have several local news stations that run stories about people that have had horrible experiences with different companies, and many businesses have been closed down because of it. I wish Lorna and Scruffy all the best, and please keep us posted. |
Update on Scruffy 1 Attachment(s) Little Scruffy is better...still a long ways to go, but he is definitely better...thanks to many of you for your prayers and well wishes! He spent, until this evening, his time with the vet...not the one that burned him, but the new vet. She is giving him special baths 3X per day which softens the burns and makes it less painful. That vet has kept him day and night until this evening when Lorna got to bring him home for the night. She will bring him back to the clinic in the morning again for his treatments...and will probably get to have him home again tomorrow night! The baths are a type of gel like stuff and then he is wrapped in gauze and the vet put him in a onesie to help protect the area. The vet told Lorna their is a small chance that Scruffy won't have to have several surgeries as thought before...that these baths may work and cause the scabs to come off on their own. Lorna and the other person whose dog was burned, are sending everything to the medical examiner in Bismarck. Here in ND, the law says a pet is considered property and therefore it is harder to get any action when it is something with a pet. I think though, that even with that law (stupid as it is) may be, that this goes beyond that to being malpractice by this vet. Pics have been sent to the newspaper and tv news and they will be having meetings to see if they should cover this story. I have a feeling it will be slow going, but believe me...Lorna will not let this pass without doing everything in her power to stop that vet from any further injury to innocent animals. Lorna thanks you all for your prayers and concern! I am so happy because today she sounds more like her old self...like the shock wore off. She said to tell you, if you would, to pray also for Daisy. That is the other dog that was burned...the 3rd dog we haven't found out who he/she is yet. I think I remembered most of what's happening and if I've forgotten something, I'll include it in the next update! Thanks all...you are gems! Here's a picture of Lorna with Scruffy. |
I am so glad to hear Scruffy is doing better, I will keep sending prayers their way and for Daisy and the other pup too.. Thank you for keeping us posted, it was nice to hear a little good news and see that sweet picture. |
Will this darling Yorkie ever grow its hair back? Kate Quote:

That is good news. I hope he recovers quickly and doesn't need the surgeries. Also, that the news decides to cover the story. It is unbelievable that it happened to one dog never mind three. The vet is either an uncaring SOB or a complete moron. I hope he gets what he deserves. On a lighter note, Scruffy reminds me of Benji. One of my favorite shows when I was little. :) |
Thanks for keeping us updated. This is such a sad story. I get teary-eyed whenever I think about it. I love the picture of Lorna with Scruffy, you can see the love each of them have for each other and I think that's great! |
What a beautiful picture of Scruffy & Lorna! My prayers & thoughts go out to them, Daisy, & the other dog, too. What a horrible thing to endure! Reading the story broke my heart, put tears in my eyes...but seeing the pictures made me sick. How unthinkable that this sort of thing would happen...I'm a simple gal, but wouldn't you think with burns that bad, the vet & others in the surgery would have smelled something?? I mean, if I leave the curling iron on my hair too long, it starts to burn...hello!!! I'm just beside myself thinking about these poor puppies & their families. I'm glad Scruffy is on the mend! Hugs & puppy kisses!! |
Would we help the process go faster if we wrote into the news paper? If they know you have all this support behind you, they might have more of an incentive to get the story going faster. |

If you want us to send e-mails and letters to the news station i would be glad to help out :) just tell us where to send it, maybe it will light a fire under their butts |
Oh, how that poor baby must be hurting. Please keep us posted on the outcome. Did the vet thnk the coat will grow back? |
This is SO sad! I'd contact a lawyer ASAP!!! How can this vet be allowed and to continue burning dogs like this? I must have missed something. I do not understand how he got burned on his back when they were neutering him? He was laying on his back. Was the table he was on too hot? I'm just confused  I hope that he recooperates quickly. I know Scruffy must be in misery! :cry8: |
