Any yorkie breeders in Houston, Texas? Hi guys! I am new to the boards so hello to all! I am interested in purchasing a blue/gold or blue/tan yorkie in Houston or surrounding area but can't seem to find any reputable breeders. Any suggestions or do you know of any nearby Houston? Any feedback would be appreciated...Thanks! P.S. I want a yorkie for a pet only, no showing or breeding. |
HI and welcome! I would get a yorkie from a breeder that is affiliated with the YTCA (Yorkshire Terrier Club of America). Here is a link to the breeders in Texas that are affiliated: http://www.ytca.org/breeder3.html#TX You could also PM luvmypupster, she is very knowledgable about breeders in your area and has info about the local Yorkie Club. Good luck with your search! |
In the Yorkies for sale or wanted section, there are several puppies listed in Texas. I hope one of these pups will work for you. Keep us posted. |

Re:Any yorkie breeders in Houstin, Texas? Guys thanks for all your help. I will get started with the helpful feedback. I am so excited to get started on this journey to get a precious yorkie!! Thanks! |
Good luck - I have a friend who had really good luck with her breeder - I'll email her and ask if she can give you some more information |
I got Tatum in the Houston area about a year ago but being a one time contact with the breeder I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending her. Tatum is perfect in every way, IMHO!!, but I just really don't know the breeder well at all. If you think you want to at least contact her, PM me and I'll find her name at home tonight. I would expect you to fully check her puppies out (if she has any) and go with your instinct and not by my recommendation only. I know I got lucky with Tatum considering the stories I've heard but I CAN tell you about one "breeder" in Houston to avoid because I've actually been to her house to look at a puppy. I can't remember her name but Villette (red98vett) has posted stuff about her before. Villette?? Do you remember who I'm talking about?? Betty something maybe? If we can at least help by telling you who NOT to buy from, I would at least feel good about that. |
YES ....lloversyorkies.com - Betty & Sandra...I did post about them. She also has sold to someone I met thru the forums and her baby had lots of problems with LP and had 2 knee surgeries - this little girl had these surgeries before she was a year old...the breeder (Betty) wanted nothing to do with it once notified. tw4sw - I have some infor for you and will pm it to you OK ? |
Re: Yorkie breeders in Houston Yes that would be great. I definitely need info on who not to go to since this is my fist time getting a yorkie.... |

Show breeders show to have their breeding stock evaluated and hopefully improve the breed. I would only buy from a show breeder today. |

I posted this question 7 LONG years ago. When I posted I was looking for a pet. Never meant or implied that I thought that a pet vs breeding one made one dog better than another. I also was not looking to get a pet "cheapo". Just so you know I met a breeder on here who I purchased my yorkie "Muffin" from for over a grand which is not "cheapo". I have been enjoying my dog with my family for the past 7 years. Thank you very much.... P.S. Guessing you didn't look at the date of this post??? |

injuries/tumors/diseases. Yes, my breeding stock are already decendents from Old World established winning blood lines, pedigrees....as is every winning show dog being shown today....built on "someone elses hard work". My goal is NOT to invent my own "look" or "style" or "attitude".....(perhaps some people consider that a horrible, self centered, goaless, greedy attitude)..I love all the wonderful attributes in the foundation stock I have now, that pass on to my babies. MY goal is healthy dogs for everyone of us! |

While LPD is indeed an issue to be dealt with, it is not life threatening and it is correctable with surgery. Google it and you will find all that is known to date about the cause (which is unknown), the genetic components, and the successful treatments. You dont need "citations"...just google it. You will also be able to see where you can make dontations to facilitate research in the disease, unless you already have a favorite research center/university you contribute any much appreciated funds. Thank you for your concern and support. |

My Miss Mini had this before 1 year of age, My Miss Mini had the surgery for this, my Miss Mini is not "cured" or corrected, rather I like to say it was surgically enhanced to allow her to have a more active life, but by no means was it corrected or cured. My baby can't sit on command but rather improvises, she has limitations, and YES i DID seek out a reknowned surgical orthopaedic and pay bucu dollars for her surgery where he completely and assured me that while it could not be made whole, it would be better....please don't offer your expertise where you surely don't have any, rather; your opinion would be more warranted under the circumstances.... |

I have no judgment of you, but you seem to really have a lot of anger toward me. Oh well, can't please all of the people all of the time. |

Are you by any chance a breeder? If so could you pm me the name of your program? Just curious. |
Great Breeder I purchased my little Mia Zeta from Anne Wylie at yorkies@eastex.net. She is a reputable breeder and will not sell to just anyone. |
